living in florida, the parade of insects continues. i dont even let my cats outside and they now have fleas. i put the drops on the backs of their necks a week ago, but im still finding live fleas on the white ones face.
im worried about additional chemicals, because i just used the drops...
is their an effective way to get rid of all the fleas short of burning my house down with the cats in it?

I believe the product is called flea bomb or something like it. You might have to do it a few times before it takes. Perhaps you should speak to a vet to make sure you don't damage the kitties.

What sort of drops did you use? The ones you buy in supermarket/pet stores (that generally use pyrethrins as their active ingredient - brands like Hartz) not only don't work well (if at all), but can be toxic to your cat as well.
You need to use one you've gotten from your veterinarian like Frontline. You can also get frontline (for MUCH cheaper) online from place like Vetshop online, which is located in Australia and is like 1/4 the price.
Frontline works within 24 hours. If you can still has fleas, you most likely applied it incorrectly. If you're positive that you did it correctly, and you still have fleas, take your cat to the vet. Maybe you discovered a new species of flea! :)
If you've got fleas in your house, if they've got nothing to live on (eg cats), eventually they usually go away. But, you should wash all your laundry in hot water. If you've got a very severe infestation in your house, you might need to call an exterminator, but that's not a pleasant thing to do, so avoid it if you can.
Do not under any circumstance use flea collars! bad bad bad!!!

Seriously, its good to begin by understanding the fleas life cycle (http://www.4fleas.com/lifecycle.htm) so you can help eliminate the fleas. I had a cat that never went out a day in her life and I lived in a 3rd floor apartment! Turns out that squirrels were in my eves and its likely that she got them from them. Florida is known for big time bug problems, people there are on first name basis with the Orkin man.

two flea baths a couple days apart, some preventative collars, and some spray for the carpets and kitty bed...i think its under control.
florida just has bugs that wont quit. i've been told that this happens continuously, and to get used to keeping up with the treatments.
hurray for tropical climates! 76 degrees and cloudy.

Flea collars are dangerous. Don't use them.
Go to your vet and get frontline or the equivalent.

whats so dangerous about them ....aside from the fact that they slowly leak poison for about 6 months at a time. cant be too much worse than the ammount of ciggarette smoke they have to breathe on a daily basis.
