I could be way off but do you 'own' this bar, work there, or what? Maybe she likes the fact that when she goes to this bar she knows someone 'in the know.' I know that when I go to a bar and I know a bartender (whether it be good friends or just someone that i've gotten to know who works there) I go to them b/c I'd rather give them the business than someone I don't know.
