Just moved into my dorm room..help

Ok, not to sound racist, but my roommate is a ghetto, pot smoking, HOT 97 listenin, ghetto, lazy, rude and rude, shows no remorse for human life, homophobe African American (white people are so scared..of black people..) I am a preppy white abercrombie and fitch kinda guy gay dude...what do I do? Plus I am without my Ron and Fez.

U can tell a lot about someone within the first few hours of meeting someone...its just a clash in cultures i think....PS he dont know im gay...but in 5 hours he smoked 4 times...smoking pot to me is like al dukes getting drunk..it just doesnt happen and when it does bad things happen.

That's part of college Big Jim...having to learn to have patience with roommates and whatnot...it'll drive you mad and it'll make you crazy, but by the end of it, you and him might end up being friends. And you'll be better for having gone through the experience. Trust me, I've had horrible roommates, but it helps you to appreciate the good ones. G'luck!

BIG JIM - You're in a rough position. The way you describe your roomate, he seems to be the very antithesis of you.

One option is to request another roomate citing compatability differences.

The better option is to give him a chance and see if you can live together. He might not be as bad as you describe once you get to know him a little better.

Of course, if he's constantly on your case b/c he's a homophobe that's impossible to do.

My point is that you shouldn't prejudge him, just as you would not want to be prejudged yourself. That's called stereotyping and is not fair to anyone involved.

You can always request a roomate change if things don't work out.

Thanks guys...yeah tonite we talked and I ended up giving him a ride down to South campus for a bootie call, where upon I had my own here (HOT!!!!!!, its great to be back)...we are stuck in a shitty dorm off campus so I have put in not only for a roommate change but a dorm change back to Main campus where all the good shit goes on...im not a racist or anything furreal we just def. clash backgrounds/cultures etc...

Residence Life told me it wil be up to a two week wait so I will make the best of it, til then I am enjoying the internet reruns of our friends RandF....hey, you all on here are great, such a diverse set of people coming together for a love of a radio show...if there is any kind of get together let me know ill be sure to make it.

i have a slight dormmate problem. I have three roomates (suite thingy). One's ok, one hasn't been back since the first day, and one just came back two days ago and is so dull I want to kill him just because he's so fucking dull i can't stand it. Is it wrong to want to kill someone because they are boring? I don't think I'm the most interesting person but at least I realize I'm not interesting.

The reason why I said NOT TO SOUND RACIST was the fact that I was new on the board, and I was complaining about my old roommate back in August, who happened to be black. Those of you that know me know I am not a racist, but being the fact that I was new on the board and no one new me, I did not want to come across as sounding like an ass. So I said "Not to sound racist" to try and separate my plight with me just being a white person thats so scared of a black person. Thanks!:)
