Are you listening to music right now? Write the lyrics to what you're listening to here and what you think the meaning of the words are.

Early morning
april 4
shot rang out in the memphis sky
free at last, they took your life
they could not take your pride.

No clue. Am i the only one who doesn't know what this song means?

She has a girlfriend now
She has a girlfriend now
She says "guys don't do no more for me"

I never thought it would end like this
just because i've go no tits
i'll shave my legs, i'll wear a bra
or even cut my penis off for you
(awww, that's so sweet)
she has a girlfriend now

I don't have the advanced degree required to intrepret deep, deep Reel Big Fish songs, so...

A GHOST IN THIS HOUSE

I don't pick up the mail
I don't pick up the phone
I don't answer the door
I'd just as soon be alone
I don't keep this place up
I just keep the lights down
I don't live in these rooms
I just rattle around.

I'm just a ghost in this house
I'm just a shadow upon these walls
As quietly as a mouse I haunt these halls
I'm just a whisper of smoke
I'm all that's left of two hearts on fire
That once burned out of control
You took my body and soul
I'm just a ghost in this house

I don't care if it rains
I don't care if it's clear
I don't mind staying in
There's another ghost here
He sits down in your chair
And he shines with your light
And he lays down his head
On your pillow at night

I'm just a ghost in this house
I'm just a shadow upon these walls
I'm living proof of the damage heartbreak does
I'm just a whisper of smoke
I'm all that's left of two hearts on fire
That once burned out of control
And took my body and soul
I'm just a ghost in this house
Oh I'm just a ghost in this house.

Theme For An Imaginary Western

When the wagons leave the city
for the forest and further on
Painted wagons of the morning
dusty roads where they have gone

Sometimes traveling
through the darkness
met the summer coming home
Fallen faces by the wayside
looked as if they might have known

Oh the sun was in their eyes
And the desert that dries
In the country towns
Where the laughter sounds

Oh the dancing and the singing
Oh the music when they played
Oh the fires that they started
Oh the girls with no regret

Sometimes they found it
Sometimes they kept it
Often lost it on the way
Fought each other to possess it
Sometimes died in sight of day

Oh the sun was in their eyes
And the desert that dries
In the country towns
Where the laughter sounds

should have left that attitude
back at home
center of attention
through tension
begging for respect
through the unsaid
resorting to disruption
when you hate something

should have left that attitude
back at home
striving to dominate
to feel safe
showing your strength to
the unknown
you probably won't quit
when you hurt someone

what the hell are you fighting for
i hope it's something you really believe in
'cause someone got a fist in the face
because your feeling weak
and your causing all these problems
that nobody needs

don't forget that you're all alone

you've got no good reason
it's just an attitude

Avail does this song on their live album and they have to stop to song because of fighting. Tim says "are you guys not listening to the song or what?" and ever since then every time I hear the words, I think it's about mosh pits. It's probably about broader themes of violence and fighting, but the line "someone got a fist in the face because you're feeling weak" makes me think of someone who goes in a pit to beat up on people without repercussions as oposed to someone who goes in to let off some steam, which is why I mosh.

I was five and he was six
We rode on horses made of sticks
He wore black and I wore white
He would always win the fight
Bang bang, he shot me down
Bang bang, I hit the ground
Bang bang, that aweful sound
Bang bang, my baby shot me down.
Seasons came and changed the time
When I grew up, I called him mine
He would always laugh and say
"Remember when we used to play?"
Bang bang, I shot you down
Bang bang, you hit the ground
Bang bang, that aweful sound
Bang bang, I used to shoot you down.
Music played and people sang
Just for me the church bells rang.
Now he's gone, I don't know why
And till this day, sometimes I cry
He didn't even say goodbye
He didn't take the time to lie.

"bang bang" from the opening credits of Kill Bill volume 1

i think it has to do with a girl and this guy who she loved all her life and then he died

I am listening to Danger Danger.

The song that is currently on is Bang Bang.

Bang! Bang!

It was a warm night on the south side of town
They said they'd seen ya
You were sneakin' around with a stranger,
Girl these rumors are drivin' me mad

All my good friends turn their face to the wall
When they see me, what the hell's goin' on am I so blind
That I can't see when I'm being had

I know it's silly but girl I really thought we had a chance
I must've been crazy!

Chorus:
Bang Bang, what's that sound
I gave you my love and you shot me down
Bang Bang, you're so cool
Playin' a game, someday you're gonna lose
Bang! Bang!

Girl you told me you were not like the rest
Then you showed me now you're failing the test
It was easy just an urge in the heat of the nite

I believed you, now that's all in the past
Cause I made some mistakes but I'm learnin' fast
Never put your heart on the line!
Never put your heart on the line!

I know it's silly but girl I really thought we had a chance
I must've been crazy!

(Chorus)

I think they are referring to some coitus or lack thereof.

They are BY FAR one of the most inspirational and amazing bands I have ever heard. I really want one more good album out of them. Things have been kind of lagging since Front Porch Stories. Strike Anywhere is filling the void nicely though.

Jesse Malin "Brooklyn"

The last car on the line
I guess youre back doing time
The ghost of Christmas past
Left Walt Whitman in the trash

You started out with nothing but lonely days
You used to like the sad songs of doom and gloom
You started out with nothing but throwaways
You couldnt live with me so you moved to
Brooklyn

Artificial desserts
Some have cars some have kids
Hit the Pathmark after work
Some never been past the bridge

You started out with nothing but lonely days
You used to like the sad songs of doom and gloom
You started out with nothing but throwaways
You couldnt live with me so you moved to
Brooklyn

I sometimes lie awake until sunrise
Wondering how we became what we despise

No more couches to surf
Only beaches in your dreams
No more trannies near work
Its still a drag walking in Queens

Its all blood money in the bank
Somehow some people find the nerve
Like the soldiers they thank down in DC
If I could only find the words

You started out with nothing but lonely days
You used to like the sad songs of doom and gloom
You started out with nothing but throwaways
You couldnt live with me so you moved to
Brooklyn

I guess its a song about his ex moving out of their home in Queens and going to Brooklyn and how everything has changed with them.

Its a really great song.
