The New York Mets in conjunction with WFAN announced today that Howie Rose has signed a two-year contract to join Gary Cohen in the Mets radio booth. Rose, 49, replaces legendary Hall of Fame broadcaster Bob Murphy who retired at the end of the 2003 season after 42 years with the Mets.
"Howie Rose knows the Mets and knows the radio station," said WFAN Program Director Mark Chernoff. "I'm happy to have him back at WFAN and to be a full-time member of the WFAN/Mets broadcast team. Howie grew up as a Mets fan and brings a lot of knowledge and insight to the Mets radio broadcasts."

I really don't like this guy. I'll give him a chance this season, but I probably wont want to see him next season. Unfortunatly, I'd think it would look bad for the Mets and WFAN to let an announcer go the first year, due to their reputation of having long time broadcasters
