Ive had this sore throat for over a month now, and have been keeping it at bay with Cloraseptic, and its been ok, but in the last 2 days, I feel like Ive suddenly got ran over by a freight train! My arms are achey, Im getting "zapps" and my hands are ice cold and it feels like I have a fever, but people who put there hand on my head say it doesnt feel too hot. Last night I bought a vaporizer at CVS for $10 and put some Vicks in it and it wasnt so bad today, until around 4 pm. Then, I stood up to go to the bathroom and almost fell over! I called my Dr and Im going at 730 tonite. I hope to hell its not the flu! Tomorrow is suppose to be out office Christmas party and if I feel like I do right now, Im calling in sick. Ive been taking Nyquil at night and Tylenol cold during the day. Im ready to pass out! My chest is heavy and nose is runny. Yeeeekkkkk

I went last night to a Chinsese take out and got me a huge soup, seemed to sooth me. This morning though, it was projectile!

Dude, you should have called your Dr. weeks ago! Over a month?
BTW a Hottub funfact:
Dogs don't eat grass because they are sick. They it it because they are omnivors (as opposed to carnivors) and they just want some veggies.

I bet you've got some bronchial infection or something going on there.
See a doctor.
Get you some Augmentin.
Or mebbe Biaxin.
One of those two will hook you right up.

Feel better now?
see?
You shoulda gone to the Funkman at the very beginning and avoided all this trouble.
Didja ask about the Biaxin or the Augmentin.
Prolly the Augmentin. It's got something like 800 mg of ampicillin plus something that boosts the performance of the ampicillin.
Hang in there!

Didja ask about the Biaxin or the Augmentin.
Actually, I didnt see this till this morning, he gave me Zithromax, Amantadine and a "tussin" type syrup, and he gave me some advil liquigels, which seem to really help my sore throat..who knew? I got a lot of soup here, and put some hot sauce in it to open up the sinuses!
Whats the stuff you have do?

I got doctor relatives and they hook me with the drugs (tee hee).
I keep 3 things on hand at all times:
the Biaxin -I think that one's for bacterial stuff, then there's the Augmentin for the viruses, and a suppository called Phenergan for alcohol poisoning in case I drink too much. I think it's good for lower intestinal tract trouble, too.
(edit) Always remember, when you're taking an antibiotic or something to take the whole scrip, even though you think you are better. Otherwise it could come roaring back...

The antibiotic he gave me is called Z Pack or Zithromax, it is a series of 5 pills, you take 2 the first day, and the rest one after the other each day until they are gone. Generally I heard that taking antibiotics for a flu is a moot point, but it might help if it became a bacterial infection in my lungs.
Im still looking around to find out just what the Amantadine does.

Probably gave you the zithromax for your throat; if you've had it for a month now (and you didn't see a doctor?!) I would bet it wasn't part of the flu, but was bacterial.
The amantadine is an anti-viral. THAT is for the flu.
Advil helps with your sore throat because hey, go figure, your throat hurts and ibuprofen is a pain reliever. Nobody ever said it only works on headaches!!!

Wanna hear something weird? I had seen this same doctor on Monday and told him about the sore throat and he said he thinks its from the dry bedroom air. I wished he had looked a little deeper into it, because now from what your saying it might be a combination of a virus and bacaterial. I actually feel alot better today than I did yesterday. Im hoping Im over this by Monday.

I only assumed bacterial because he gave you the anti-bacterial. dry bedroom air totally sucks, get a humidifier!! I wake up with an awful sore throat every time I forget to turn ours on... but that usually goes away after a good shower. It doesn't last all day for months and months...

You can put a pot of boiling water on.
What I do is in the winter I don't dry my laundry in the machine, but I hang it up around the place and let it dry that way...

Well, I do have a vaporizer in the room now, so that will humidfy the air. I keep hearing all this good stuff about the Augmentin, but I didnt know to ask for anything specific, I hope what I got is working. It feels quite a bit better today, so maybe it is a good thing. When you think about how many people are talking about having this flu, Im realizing how widespread it is. I think I counted 6 regular posters here alone talking about it. Several people I know have it too. This is the first time Ive ever gotten caught up in an epedemic like this, so this must be a particularly bad flu season. In my job, I talk all day long, and the office is extremely dry, so along with my dry bedroom, I associated my sore throat to lack of moisture and excessive use. I know that having a sore throat is a gateway to getting worse illnesses, because air you breathe in passes right over the torn skin of your throat, right into your blood stream. Im going to have to try and find a way to keep myself hydrated at work. I drink alot of tea and coffee at work too. How does Augmentin stack up against the stuff I was given?

I was on the Zithromax and an Albuterol inhaler a month ago. I had asthmatic bronchitis. It kicks in really fast. The first two days, you don;t feel different. By the third day, you're good to go.
See Ya!
