I have had what seems to be a sprained ankle for about a month now. I went to the hospital and had x-rays. No break. Waited a week and it got no better. Last week went to my Dr. and he thought it might be very bad tendonitis and gave me a cortisone shot. That lasted about a day, so I went back to him yesterday. He said it might be more complicated then he thought so he refered me to a specialist. So when I woke up this morning I figured, "Great. It's probably a hairline fracture and I'll be in a cast for Christmas." When I got there the podiatrist went through a few physical tests (bend this way, does this hurt, etc.) and then took some xrays. He comes back in and says "Something showed up that I don't like." So I'm thinking about the cast and this will suck. Then he puts the xrays up on the screen and says, " There is a growth on your tibia." Well, "What could that be?" I ask. He says it can be anything from being banged around playing sports to bone cancer and he wants me to get a CAT scan today. So, ok, I go and get the CAT scan and a few hours later I get a call from the scanning place asking me to come back in for more scans. When I get there I ask if there was a problem with the first scans but they said my Dr. wanted some scans higher up on my leg, almost to my knee. So I'll find out tomorrow what the hell is going on. But for now, it's me, Mr. Beam and the Corky episode.

Sorry to rant, but I don't want freak anyone in my family out if it turns out OK.

Vague medical procedures are probably one of the most stressfull and depressing things we can come across that just turns our life upside down in a split second, even if it turns out to be nothing.

Here's hoping this DOES turn out to be nothing too serious. Fingers and toes crossed for you, budday...

The uncertainty of it sure does suck. I hope for the best for you.

I figure, even if it's the worst, I'm hearing Corky hand out Flair chops to make tonight go by.

I went through a similar scare a few years ago and it turned out to be nothing serious. Hope it's the same for you.

Hope it's just a little fracture (better that then cancer). My grandmother also thought she had a sprained ankle but it turned out to be ovarian cancer.
Feel better soon!

Hey, thanks everyone for their kind posts. I found out today that I have bone spurs. One one my heel, another on my ankle, and one on my tibia. Which is GREAT news. The only thing is, my Dr. doesn't know why I have a bone spur on my tibia six inches up from my ankle. They occur on joints or breaks in the bone, but i never broke my leg.

Anyway, thanks again to everybody. I read all the post at about six this morning and when my Dr. called I was pretty sure it wasn't the worst.
