Remember those cheesy disaster movies? Irwin Allen was the king of the genre, making such classics as "The Towering Inferno" and "The Poseidon Adventure". I think what started the trend was "Airport". After that, they just kept on coming.

If they made a disaster movie today it would star Keanu Reeves, Brendan Frasier, Marissa Tomei, William Baldwin, and any one of the Culkin kids. The plot would have them all getting multi-picture deals at major studios- THE HORROR. Oh, and special guest stars Barbara Bach, Robert Culp, and E.G. Marshall as The President.

I remember a freaky movie called "Frogs". Frogs, snakes, lizards and other creatures terrorize a wealthy family's outing.

At least the first Airport and the Posieden adventure are watchable. But I definitely agree the rest are all horrible.

I always thought Volcano was a very underrated movie.

I don't know if this qualifies but Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds"? I always thought it would be a disaster to be attacked by so many birds. Funny but still a disaster.

Still like the Poseidon Adventure...

Anybody remember:
Krakatoa East Of Java

distinctly remember the title and being in the movies to see it but can't remember too much about it other than people on the shore running trying to outrun a 100 foot tidal wave...
back then they would play 2 or 3 different pictures in a row... one time we sat through 3 James Bond movies Dr No, GoldFinger, and From Russia With Love(i believe)

The original Airport was a good movie. It was the follow ups the numbered ones became sillier and sillier. there was a very good one that was made in 1939 I believe called Hurricane. set on a pacific island. the effects though pale by today's standards were actually a good part of the movie. AMC used to show it.

The birds scared the crap out of me. I still hate birds to this day because of that movie.

Twister I guess could go into this movie.

Do you think that anyone will try and make a movie out of 9-11. I hope not.

We want Ron and Fez live in DC.

Without a doubt, the worst movie of all time has to be "Armegedon". Bad acting, bad actors, bad plot, good cheese. (I was eating nachos in the theatre).

You gotta admit Michael Clark Duncan and Steve Buscemi were great in Armageddon whether you liked it or not.

Heckler I have a question for you. I kind of wondering about something.
Was Star Trek the Motion Picture one of the first TV shows that was made into a full length movie or was there other tv based movie?

I remember seeing "Earthquake" in SENSOROUND at the Lynbrook theatre. All they did was turn the bass up really high.

Victoria Principal's breasts were very huge in that movie.
