On a loaf of bread, has anyone regularly use the begining and/or end slices? It's doesn't seem so to myself, and why are they continued to be packaged with the rest of the loaf?
Leave the smart-ass answers somewhere else.

It's like "last call effect". The less bread I have, the better the ends look. Eventually, I'll eat them only if I have no other choices.

I will admit to using them as a substitute hot-dog bun, but generally the end slices go stale before I have a chance to get to them, so it's not an issue.

i like the ends of italian bread also, but not on regular white bread. for some reason though, i never throw the top one out. I remove it, take pieces i want and then throw it back on top. i know no one is going to eat it, but thats the way my parents did it, so i do also.

Italian, French bread and the like, the ends are the shit... Regular white bread- either for hot dogs or killey traps.

I do that too........I'm thinkin' it helps keep the regular slices fresh, like putting a lid on them.

When I freeze my white bread, you basically look in my freezer and see the plastic bag with 2 slices of bread in it... the top and bottom piece. I aint eating that shit!

That's why I buy crustless bread... don't have to worry about those pesky end pieces, and it's low-cal too.
