they have a PNC atm and there is no charge... they're good for bread, milk, half-half, and entenmanns cakes in a pinch. their coffee is 'okay' but always seems to taste slightly burnt. my friend who used to work at a WaWa says they rarely wash the pots between fillups...

WaWa!

Philly style! We would go there back on our late night pot binges and my friend Ryan would always say coherently around 4AM and after 4 or 5 bowls, (say it phonetically people) "Uum gunna goda WaWa nnd git meah HOEgeeee. Uhhh". That became gospel! Anytime I see a WaWa it always reminds me of home. Not to mention cheap gas. Currently $1.25 in Burlington, NJ on US 130. Oh yeah, $1.00 off coupons on the ATM receipts is a nice touch. Too bad those sandwiches SUCK! WaWa hoagies are awesome! The soups are great too. I hit the one at Aramingo right off of Frankford twice a week for the great soup.

QuickChek.

After moving over here I have discovered the wonderes of QC. The first one I went in was in Old Bridge I think and that one was really nice. Good quality and mixture on the post-mix in the fountain sodas and good coffee. Nice selection of snacks too. No ATM surcharge at the one's Ihave visited. The only complaint I have had was the QC in Matawan had this real smartass girl working the register. Man could she let the insults fly when I couldn't count my change properly.

Couche-Tard.

I fell in love with this store when I was up in Quebec over the summer. Still a pretty new chain but they are soon to give Dunkin Donuts a run for their money as they are carrying Tim Horton's donuts in many of their shops to create even more competition. The only other conveinient store I saw in Canada was 7-11. Oh, if you ever get to Quebec and get to a C-T, don't get the Slouche. Imagine a Slurpee but twice as sweet. Really awful I must say. I do however recommend the Mint Aero bar. It is like one huge Andes Mint. The bizarre thing I noticed about Canadian stores was that the mini-marts had no self-serve soda. You could only get it in the bottle.

The only other Conveinent Stores I can think of are Cumberland Farms which I recommend avoiding like the plauge. Hess Express are alright but the coffee stinks. Circle K is a glorified MobilMart. Split Second is low-grade ghettofied Quick Check.

I live on the road so I am always looking for that new spot for coffee or a good sandwich while I travel.

Bruno's Drive Thru, Newark-Pompton Turnpike, Pequannock NJ: a convenience store that is so convenient, you simply pull up and tell the girl what you want. She fetches it, and you pay for it--all without leaving the comfort of your car.

This makes me happy, because I am lazy.

If you want to go inside you can, too--they have an ATM machine in there--but if you DO go inside, you're gonna piss off the guy in line behind you because there is no parking. You simply pull up to the window and then run inside.

The store's been there for as long as I can remember, and I've been driving through out of sheer laziness since the early `80's.

It's always hit or miss around Central Jersey.

They redid a Quick Check north of me and it's better than some of the 7-11's.

They also have Krausers around here where you can get better porn at or so I've heard.
