I just bought a HTIB and I need to buy some extra wire. My question is, does the gauge of the wire make a difference? is there better wire that will improve sound coming from my speakers? and can i mix different types of wire? will it effect sound quality?

I donn't know a whole lot about this stuff as you can probably tell.

Thicker the better. Gold connectors too. Don't mix wire.

The thicker the better, but you don't want to get too thick (You're just wasting your money at that point) Unless you have the wire running a very long distance, then anything 16 or lower will be fine (the higher the gauge number the thinner the cable)

They make a few types of connectors so check what type will work with your speakers and reciever (terminals will accepts multiple types) This should be listed in the manual. If it came with wires get something thicker, they usually put show string wires in with Audio equipment.

I doubt that you would notice a difference if you used thinner speaker wire. The placement of the speakers is more important than the thickness of the wires.

You should, however use a consistent type of wire across all connections.
