Ok the Kid Rock thread got me going. I saw that show, and friggin loved it.

There, topic: Guilty Pleasure Concerts. Now these, to be truly a guilty pleasure, a concert or concerts that you really liked, or loved even, but until now, you would not admit to your heinous musical Crime.

So; I got Kid Rock, but I will add an even more heinous show. One that makes him seems like Wolfie himself.

I saw the Village People at the Fast Lane in Asbury Park. I will only note that I was reviewing the show for a local music paper [East Coast Rocker] who had indeed asked if I'd see the show. And, oh my God, I expected a crowd of about Me, and dont ya know here they come outta the woodwork; the 70s people, and they pack the place, and the Village People, or whoever the fuck was onstage, just had them screaming like the little bitches that they all were. Most surreal show ever? Nope.

But I thought it was great.

I feel so dirty...

I have seen Kid Rock twice, once as a headliner in Dallas, once opening for Aerosmith in Hartford. Both rocked, so I have no guilt there.

My guilty pleasure would be Peter Frampton. I saw him open three years ago for Journey (don't ask). Frampton blew them out of the water, and I would pay to see him again.

My guilty concert was Michael Jackson on the Bad tour. Parents got tickets, I went. And whether you hate him, love him or are just going to call me gay, the weird ass freak knows how to put on a hell of a show.

I guess mine would be when I saw Sting. At the time my musical tastes were VERY limited and Sting wasn't exactly my cup of tea. However, my cousin wanted me to take him so I reluctantly agreed to go.

It turned out to be one of the best concerts I had ever been to. I also learned it was time to expand my musical tastes.

I remember the reviews for those shows, and when he was 'on'; they said he Owned.

I am seriously putting myself in a Jacko quarantine. Fuck 60 minutes; let's hear some real Q and A. I'm pissed off because there WAS a time when he put out great shows. And songs. Fucking A just try to deny the shred-a-tude of the solo Eddie threw on to 'Beat It'? Yes it's a parody of itself now, no Weird Al needed, but that was guitar Magic. Great, now I'm pissed off about VH too.

Anyway, I believe that Jacko tour featured female guitar prodigy Jeniffer Batten; who isn't a household name, but for guitar-store nerds like me, she's like the female Satriani-Vai-Holdsworth whatever. She got some chops.

I went to both the Monkees and Bow Wow Wow. When I saw Bow Wow Wow, the club was fucking packed.

And Mizzle, MJ was always good at attracting and working with talented ppl. I know the chick you're talking about but didn't know her name. She was the one with the really funky hair. And let's not forget Slash played on an MJ song too.

You want a fucking guilty concert with NEGATIVE pleasure? I saw the Spice Girls at a club overseas before they were big. The tickets were free and I was STILL pissed afterwards. And the moosey redhaired one decided she didn't have to wear underwear onstage. Yeah, it's even worse than you're picturing it.

I saw Green Day at a music festival in Memphis. They played the stage that I happened to be in front of at the time, and they kicked ass. I always thought their CD's sounded like a punk parody, but the live show was great.

They Rocked; and she was HOT!

Oh, and another one: ELO, Madison Square Garden, 'Out of the Blue' tour; the frigging Electric Light Orchestra, where they played out of what was supposed to be a giant spaceship, but actually looked like a giant Big Mac. How many concerts have a CELLO solo!? Ack! I think they were lip synching a lot at that point too. Oops!

But oh man I was in Heaven; that album Owned. Kill Me. Go Ahead, but bury a copy with me.

1984 - Berlin and Thompson Twins for $3.00 at Kings Dominion.

1985 - Emerson, Lake and POWELL in Charlotte, NC...The Romantics at college...

1986 - The Bangles...again, at college...(lame ass college)...

1988 (I think)...Madonna, at RFK Stadium - it was a little more than half way sold out. The two previous nights I was seeing The Ramones at the Bayou in Georgetown, and then I find myself at a Madonna show??? Eeeesh.

The only one of those that I actually kind of enjoyed was the one at Kings Dominion with Berlin and Thompson Twins. The others were more painful than pleasure.

I actually didn't mind Kid Rock when I saw him July 4, 2000 in Baltimore; I also didn't mind Sting when I saw him, nor am I embarrassed to have seen Kiss more than once (including once with Nuge opening up) - I still have my 1977 Official Kiss Army certificate!

ok, I went to a Madonna concert back in the 80's. Didn't like her, but my sister did. Didn't really enjoy the concert too much either.

Forgot a good one. The day of graduation from High School in 1981, me and about 7 of my closest friends drove from Long Island to Philadelphia for "The Round-Up", an all-day Southern Rock concert featuring 38 Special, Molly Hatchet, The Outlaws, The Allman Brothers and Marshall Tucker Band. We all worked at the same Waldbaum's supermarket and the night before we left we "liberated" about 20 cases of Kronenbourg and Heineken from the loading dock. We had the top floor to ourselves in a dumpy hotel on Broad Street and filled the bathtubs to capacity with ice and beer. We trashed the hotel rooms like rock stars and got drunker than we had any legal right to.

Ah....the idiocy of youth. Good times.

My first ever concert was Gloria Estefan in 1991. I was offered a free ticket and I took it. Being that I had never been to a big concert at the time. I actually really did enjoy it. It was a new experience for me.

I saw the New Kids on the Block and the Spice Girls.

They made no comparision to Nine Inch Nails and Type-O.
