On the south
"I still want to be the candidate for guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks."

On Saddam Hussein
"The capture of Saddam has not made America safer."

On Osama Bin Laden
"I have this old-fashioned notion that even with people like Osama, who is very likely to be found guilty, we should do our best not to . . . prejudge
jury trials."

On stonewallng by President Bush regarding 9/11 information
"The most interesting theory that I've heard so far, which is nothing more than a theory - I think it can't be proved - is that he was warned ahead of time by the Saudis. Now, who knows what the real situation is, but the trouble is that by suppressing that kind of information, you lead to those kinds of theories."

I think this guy is nuts. Also whenever he makes a stupid comment he calls a press conference to retract his statements. Republicans will have a field day with this guy. There is no chance in hell of him winning any southern states which are key to winning the election.

no one thought clinton had a chance against bush sr. and he had at one point a 90% approval rating.

Yes. But the difference is that CLinton was not so stupid to say things like Dean did. He was a good political speaker, more like a car salesman. His only problem was where he was going to get his next BJ from. Dean says things that even piss off may Democrats never mind republicans. Everyone knows Bin Laden is guilty of killing 3000 people except Dean.

Yes, but another diffrence is that bush barely got in back in 2000 with roughly 50% approval rating. Today he's 55%. Yes he's going against a weak candidate, but he's in a weak position to start with.

never say die.

I'd love to see the original context this was clearly butchered out of.

Let's keep our Dean support/criticism to the thread that's already going.

Why is Howard Dean popular with young voters? (http://www.ronfez.net/messageboard/viewmessages.cfm/CurrentPage/1/forum/87/Topic/35206/RequestTimeout/500)
