There is this hot lesbien that sits behind me, and she bullshits her way through work all day on personal phone calls to lawyers about screwing over her ex husband and generally causing all kinds of unimaginable havoc in the lives of those whos circle of activity intersects with hers. Anyway, she usually helps me with questions I have regarding the job, this and that and is always there to lend a criticism to the way I work. Ive heard she has gotten more guys up on sexual harassmant charges than anyone in the history of the company, management included. The only interaction I have with her is when I have no choice but to ask her a question that only she has the answer to. Aside from that, she doesnt initiate dialoge usually. Except today. She comes to me and says, " I need someone to cosign a loan application for a car I want to buy" the bank wont approve it because she declared bankrupsy 3 years ago, her lover has bad credit and she wants this new Sebring convertible. And I said, "Your asking me to cosign?" and I told her that I am about to buy a new car this weekend and Im having my own money problems. She doesnt come right out and ask me though. I go out to lunch and come back and shes leaving early and says over her shoulder, "Let me know if youll help me like you said you would with cosigning that loan" and walks out the door. Im sitting there with my mouth open. I didnt tell her that Id do anything! Im kinda scared of her because shes a "man eater" and I dont want to get in trouble, and I also certainly dont want to get myself in THAT situation. I sent myself an email home and at work saying that she asked me this and that I dont want to do it, this way I have some document in case later on she accuses me of something that I didnt do and does it as retribution, and I also let my supervisor know and she was flabbergasted and said that Im too nice even getting worried about it and to tell her first thing NO. But at the same time, I want to cover my ass, any suggestions?

Don't do it. You are setting yourself up for disaster.

The suggestion on her part alone is rude and you should say that to her. I have no problem loaning people money at work, but when it gets to the point where you're co-signing on contracts and agreements on large money items it's absurd to even suggest it.

Regardless if you have the money or not, or are looking for a car yourself or not. She has no right to put you in a such a situation. Make note and take notes of this. You may even want to consult your shop steward in an off the record fashion for guidance.

I came in today, and she didnt say anything to me about it, but I did hear her on the phone talking to someone about her needing it in order to get the car. Im figuring if she doesnt say anything, Im better off not mentioning anything. My boss said I should go right up to her and say "Felicia, in regards to what we talked about yesterday, my answer is Absolutely Not." But I felt that would instigate it, if she asked me, I planned to say that I talked about it with my wife and she was furious with me, I cant. Sorry.
