Pentium 4 or ATHLON XP?

Well its time to finally retire my dinosaur of a computer. Ive heard great things both about Intel Pent 4 and the AMD Athlon XP. Which one is better? It seems to me that computers with intel processors are advertised more

amd athlon xp is better for games, at least thats what the pimple riddled kid told me when i bought this thing. but i stongly suggest getting one of these, you deserve it.

Are you custom building your new system or going through a company like Dell or Gateway?

I say go custom. You get exactly what you want and usually save several hundred dollars from what you would pay with one of the bigger companies. And ANYONE can put together a computer these days. I only know how to play games and search the internet and I was able to do it.

And for the record, I was about to type "surf the web" and felt the urge to retch. I'm glad that term died.

Yeah, you should custom build your computer. Don't get fucked by going out to a store and paying a ridiculous price for a computer.

It doesn't really matter if you got with an Athlon system or a Pentium 4. Traditionally, Athlons are cheaper. So, you might want to go to PriceWatch (http://www.PriceWatch.com) and pick out your own parts and build your own system.

Its really easy and you'll learn a lot.

I actually bought a processor, motherboard bundle at the computer show today at a great price. I ended up getting a 2.4 gig Pentium 4 processor. The motherboard is an MSI which i heard is pretty decent One of my friends at my job who works in IT is going to build it for me. To hell with spending a Grand for a computer from Dell or Gateway
