Everyone over a certain age has Credit Card horror stories - what I'm interested in is if anyone has had any good Credit Card stories?
I've had for years now Capital One, and until this last year they were pretty good, but now they won't budge on a credit increase, they've locked my account when they shouldn't and done other shenanigans, and while they've dropped my interest rate but it's still way too high.
My only option seems to be pay it off and cancel, which would be easier now that I have an AmEx card and a Visa Check Card, however it might be better if I keep it and don't use it - credit wise. Or, I can get another card to not use, and then cancel it (ok...that's more than one option).
So, does anyone have any good things to say about their credit card companies? Is there someone better than Capital One?

If you or any member of your family has ever worked for the Navy, I highly recomend Navy Federal Credit Union. They hook up everything, my checking account, credit card, money market/savings, home loan, car loan, etc... And, because its all the same company, paying bills and managing finances on-line is a breeze.
Aside from that, I've had a Citi Bank card since '97, and never had any problems with the customer service there.

Well, a friend of mine just said some good things about CitiBank, and I also am a member of a federal credit union from my old job, although it's kind of lifeless....hmmmmmm...

pay down the card but keep the account open. it improves your credit score to have cards that have less than a 30% balance.

If you or or any of your immediate family members work for the government, there's no excuse to NOT have a USAA credit card. My interest rate has only increased slightly in the 6 years I've had it and my credit has expanded drastically. Great, great card service.

I have had a credit card for 5 years and I am proud to say I have never carried a balance over to the next month. I refuse to ever pay interest on something that i bought, unless it is a house or car. I have a mastercard hooked on to my checking account and a Amex card. I use the amex for online purchases for their increased security.

My Craftsman card always seems to get me 10-15% off on tools at Sears. Other than that none of the cards in my wallet have done much for me except put me in debt.

I've got three Citibank cards and a Sears Card. Funny enough, the Sears (Mastercard) has a lower interest rate on it for cash advances than the Citibank cards do.
If you're unhappy with the interest rate on the Capital One card, look around for another card with a lower rate, then call Capital One and tell them you're getting another card with a lower interest rate and that you'd like to cancel their card. Usually a company will try to match that rate rather than lose a customer. If they won't budge, cancel the card (transfer any outstanding balance to the new card first).
Be careful keeping too many cards open, as having to many cards/open lines of credit can jeopardize loans and stuff. Get your credit report from the 3 reporting agencies at least once a year as well.

Some credit cards have cartoon animals on them! I'm not allowed to have any more credit cards because of my early, impulsive Mastercard purchases of black market kidneys and livers but if I were allowed to have one, I'd get one with the cartoon on it! It'd make me chuckle!

I'll answer the original question that I thought this was about.
I have one dollar, hair cut card for a free hair cut, a card for an ice cream store for a free ice cream, a card so I can go on airplanes with my needles, 3 pictures of my niece/goad daughter, a US Navy Card from a recruitment officer who came to my school, a card for game stop where I can get 15 percent off of all used games, a card from a tatoo place(that has john 3:16 on it which is cool), and last and the best, my BIG A.S.S CARD! 20037! WHO-HA!

I have my Amex (Member since '84) and a Visa debit card from my credit union. I never carry balances over, unless its a big ticket item, and then I dont rest till its payed off asap. The other card I have is a Master Card from Fleet that I use to scrape ice off my side view mirrors.

Well, as a follow-up, today I finally got confirmation that my credit union approved me for a credit card (hazzah!), which wasn't the easiest thing to do - my credit it really on shakey ground still.
So...it was no problem to then go down and burn my shitty Capital One card live on the air.
Thanks for the advice all!

I miss Caldor, Bradlees, Kmart, Sterns. You ever try walking through the coat area of Khols? You need a machete to get through it. Walmarts good, I just wish theyd get some better clothes, the rest is fine as it is. I have some problems with target, I think they can shrink some sections and expand others. Sorry for the tangent
