View Full Version : Joe Gibbs
KERMIT

ESPN and WFAN is now reporting that Joe Gibbs in heavy negotiations with the Skins and a deal could be done by the end of the week. I think its great for the skins beacuse Gibbs is the only coach Snider can't boss around. And besides he grew up a skin fan and idolizes Gibbs. This i think is great news for skins fans.

Why the hell would Gibbs want to come back to this mess with all the fun he's having watching his team "drive fast & turn left"? Besides, as great as Gibbs' teams were, was there even as strict a salary cap when he was coaching? Putting together a team without the luxury of depth makes this NFL quite different from the one he probably remembers...but, then again, that hasn't stopped Parcells.

Their last four super bowls.
I hope he doesn't do it - he doesn't need the grief.

Cha-ching.
That the sound of Gibbs grabbing the $15 mil that Spurrier left behind.
But I also think he'll do a good job. He's already hired Greg Williams from Buffalo as his DC.

Ramsey has more talent than Theisman, Rypien, and Doug Williams. The skins have some of the best corners in the league, and hopefully Gibbs will be able to get more out of Lavar Arrington.

Damn - everything from the 1980s really is back again!
WHY DOES HE WANT TO PUT HIMSELF THROUGH THIS???
He was someone who really lived and breathed the game, to the point it hurt his marriage and family, and now - he has it so good now! Eeeeesh!
Not sure how I feel about this. If he turns it around, then great - but man...if it doesn't work out, it could be the ugliest thing to happen to the Skins since FedEx Field.

I heard they just signed Joe Jacoby to play tackle and Dexter Manley to play D-End. It'll be nice when the players have to try to explain to Gibbs that no one runs the single wing anymore.

He coached the teams to their ONLY super bowl wins!
The Redskins interviewed at least three other candidates: former Giants coach Jim Fassel, former Vikings coach Dennis Green, and Seahawks defensive coordinator Ray Rhodes.
How bad do you have to be thought of as a coach that someone who has not done it in 11 years gets the job before you. That is like your grandfather comming out of retirement to take your office job from you.

Very true Crippler....but Gibbs has learned to adjust to the change of the NFL. he won 3 super bowls over 10 years, They says alot. I think it will be interested to see how they react to Gibbs comming back. At least the Skins' fans will be happy. The most beloved coach they ever had is returning home for them.
I think the Skins will make the playoffs next year, provided they make the key trades/drafts this for this comming season.
Drive fast and turn left.....Cripples you are too fucking funny sometimes. (Chuckles)

And the piece of the team he's getting(I guess he'll have to divest himself of that piece of the Falcons)
I'm not a Redskins fan, and even I'm excited. its great to see this area so upbeat about something. The people here have been through a lot the last few years, and they deserve to have something good happen to them
Heck with how fickle and mediocre the NFL is these days, it wouldn't surprise me if the 'Skins made the playoffs next year. Dallas did this year, with far inferior talent on offense, but it all starts with the D. He's got to build that D into something better than its been. The D-Line is old and terrible, the LB's are old(except for Arrington), the safeties aren't very good, and they might lose their only good corner(Bailey) in Free Agency...
But anywho...i think its great for the Redskins fans, and this area in general...And say what you want about the Danny, this is the 2d time in a row he's gotten someone to take this job who said they would never take it in a million years..

Tell ya what Snoogs...let's make a bet about that.
You think up the terms because I seriously think you are wayyy off track about that one.
Anyway...with Parcells in Dallas *cough TRAITOR cough* and Gibbs back in Washington the NFC east just got alot more watchable!
I bet Washington get's the 1st MNF game.

...and I'll bet you double or nothing that it's against the Cowboys. The NFL is eating this shit up.
Somewhere, Pete is sitting in a dark room (avoiding calls about the league's selfish decision to make a team in Boston play a night game in an open stadium in FUCKING JANUARY?!?!?!?), with the first hard-on he's seen in the last 35 years...just thinking about the NFC East next season.

Not in today's NFL, where anyone can win a superbowl any given year. Who would have thought the Rams would have won it all in 99? or the Ravens(ugh) in 00 with Trent Freakin Dilfer? It won't happen right away, but Gibbs wins wherever he goes, so i would believe eventually they will contend...or this could all blow up in their faces..

Uhhhhhh. It's not like he's coached all over the league. He's been a winner with the Redskins and NASCAR. Not to take anything away from his credentials, because they are impressive, but its a little premature to saddle him with that tag.
