In the spirit of Mizzle's post of losing 100 lbs, Tenz's Stacker 2 stocking and my recent attempt to drop more than a few, I'm curious what has (or hasn't) worked for others.

The first time I ever really dieted was in 2000 when I was on Atkins for 6 months. I lost 30 some pounds, before jumping off at Thanksgiving of that year.

I kept most of it off (I really could have stood to lose a few more, but hey - I was happier).

Anyway, I knew that I was back up to my pre-Atkins weight at some point this last year, but wasn't sure by how much. Finally, after f-ing around with starting and stopping and making up rules as I went along, I got serious recently and started Atkins again. Not only did it work the first time, but I really feel great while on it - AND they are making it easier with the new Subway wraps and 7-11 snacks.

So, I double checked my weight and was horrified that in the 3 years since I was off of Atkins I gained 50 pounds! So, I am now 20 pound heavier than when I went ON Atkins in the first place.

Oooof.

So, yeah, I'm a big man again.

The plan now is to drop about 5 pounds every 2 weeks - by memorial day that should be about 30 pounds, and hopefully (factoring in stalling here and there) I will be where I was at Thanksgiving 2000.

Atkins works for me, even more effective with regular exercise. I just went back on it after the holidays to drop 10-15.

Weight Watchers' Winning Points diet plan is working very well for me. While I won't say how much I lost (other than it's a ridiculously huge amount), I like it because it lets you eat very well without feeling like you're starving, and even allows for a fast food meal every now and then.

A diet I would recommend is the rock diet. Basically what you do is you go outside late at night and throw a bunch of rocks in the air. Look up and wait for a few rocks to hit you about the face and skull. You should be out cold for 20-28 hours. In all this time you don't eat a single bite so you lose a good 4-7 pounds. Repeat proccess if neccesary for the desired weight loss goal.

Yeah, Fast Food has been the death of me, which is why I've been so obsessive about using "Fast Food Nation" as an inspiration.

i've been on the "poor bitch" diet for about a week now. Its really not that hard of a diet to stay on, and its really easy to begin, all you do is run out of money and have little or no food at home. For the past week i've been spacing out a box of matzoh, one a day, sometimes 2 if i get really hungry. It seems to be working, but the again i don't have a scale to check my weight.

I went through the "college slump" about 3-4 years ago and had to shed almost 40 pounds. Basically I cut cheese out of my diet altogether, stopped eating anything after 9 PM, and only had two "full" meals: breakfast and then lunch at around 3 or 4 PM. I'd have a VERY light dinner (Salad, soup or a sandwich) between 6-8 PM. I also totally cut soda of ANY kind out of my diet, which not only dumped a TON of sugar from my system, but also greatly helped my digestion.

That all worked for me and wasn't murder trying to get through. It helped I was walking a lot to my classes and also had/have a job that keeps me on my feet. I also swam for about an hour a day 3-5 times a week. But the diet played a HUGE part.

Basically I got from almost 250 to around 220 in about 4 months. I know do a play on the same diet and hover between 200 and 210 (I'm about six-foot-two with a large frame) at any given time.

Dexidrine diet. Its my hyper powerful ADD medication which doubles as an appetite suppressant. I did'nt lose weight but everyone says I look skinnier, even though im still 225.

Its completely unhealthy but its just an externality of my ADD medication.

I am obsessed with my weight and have been on just about every diet on the planet and tried every diet pill out there. I lost 35 lbs. in 2 months about 6 years ago by eating microwave meals like Smart Ones, Healthy Choice and Weight Watchers. It really wasn't that hard after the first 2 weeks. My stomach shrank and I was able to feel satiated with one meal, whereas two weeks prior I was starving on them. I've gained 20 lbs. in the past year so I decided last week it's time to cut the shit and not be a fatass anymore. I'm now on a diet where I eat small meals throughout the day. I limit the in-between meals to no more than 200 calories each and lunch and dinner are no more than 300 calories each. I'm down 6 lbs. just this first week. Atkins SUCKS. I gained 5 lbs. on it a couple months ago, even though I followed it explicitly. Even if you do lose weight, who the hell can keep up that kind of restrictive diet forever? You're almost doomed to gain it all back. Diet pills do not work. I've never shed a single pound using them. Gimmicks are bullshit. Cut the calories and the weight will come off. It's that easy. Once you lose the weight, you can still pig out every now and then. I'd die if I couldn't gorge myself on McDonald's or Wendy's once in a while. The weight comes back on when you go back to that lifestyle all the time.

I lost about 25 lbs in a few months on Atkins, and I've been doing it since last June. It's really easy for me because I never ate much pasta and bread or sugar in the first place. Most of the sweet things I used to like to eat frequently (ice cream, aassorted custards, lifesavors), I can all have in sugar free versions. I can't even tell the difference between something made with sucralose and sugar at this point. It works well for people like me who are obsessed with food and are constantly either eating or thinking about it.

No need for me to chime in. Read the above on how I lost the Hundred.

100 lbs. @ 20 months = 5 pounds a month. Roughly a pound a week. Resign yourself to the fact that weight comes off this fast, at most. The weight that stays off. The weight that comes off from the diet above.

I excercise A LOT to keep myself thin. My job is VERY active as well. Since I love to eat, this is the best way to stay fit for me.

I work out with weights as well as do aerobics, pilates, and yoga classes.

what's worked for me both times was adding some excercise 2-3 times a week, and leaving 25-33% of my food on my plate.

i was on Body for Life for a year once you get used to eating 6 small meals a day its easy. the workouts are 1/2 the time i used to do and you get one day a week to eat whatever you want. however i did have some thyroid problem that has gone away and the doc told me excersize would not affect the thyroid.
