Not to mention worst idea ever - worst concept ever - worst logo ever - and worst use of the word "family" ever!

CleanFilms.com are a bunch of fucking idiots (http://www.cleanfilms.com/)
Can't these paranoid folks and their homeschooled brats just watch their animated vegitable bible stories, Kirk Cameron films, John Wayne movies, Narnia adaptations and leave the rest of us alone! This has to be illegal on some level.
We've seen how the Bush twins turned out - we know where their supposed "family values" leads!
PAH!

I ordered their version of "Reservoir Dogs" and when I got it, it was only 6 minutes long.
I have no problem with this because they are catering to a niche audience. I would have a problem with it if the government dictated that this is the way it had to be done.
Television networks have been doing this for years. Editing out questionable language and content before airing Motion Pictures on network television. So this shouldn't be such a surprise.

Wouldn't like half these movies go from 2 hours to like a half an hour of a movie?
I know I'm being extreme but, isn't this the same thing they do for television? T
hey take out all the nudity and violence. So basically this is the same but without commercials and turning a R rated movie into PG.
Braveheart would make so much sense without the battles. Whatever.

Worst feedback too:
"'Enemy at the Gates is our first rental . . . and I want to thank you for providing such quality editing. With teenage boys who love war and adventure I have found it difficult to accommodate their desires and not violate my biblical standards. You provide an excellent option. Thank you. Keep up the good work. We will be long term members of your coop.' - Doug "
WOW! That's like saying that violenece is all right, as long as you don't hear any cursing, see any blood or see any boobies?!? Good idea to encourage more stupid people unrealisitic versions of war.
Phooey!
Tall James: I agree with what you said, that it does fit a niche, I just have to believe that an outside group that goes in and edits copyrighted material without the permission of the studios or producers is doing something illegal; even if they say what they are doing is a "co-op," they then turn around and sell these tapes to retailers!
Why don't all of us go an swipe movies we want and re-edit them the way we want, distribute them, and then hide behind the words "clean" and "family?" HELL! I'd love a crack at fixing those new STAR WARS films!
"BETTER FILMS - Geek Edited DVD Movies."
I could make a fortune!
Studios already make edited versions of their films for airlines and broadcast television.

They do answer this question on their website by saying this...
Q.
Is it legal to edit movies?
A.
CleanFilms is a Co-operative rental club. All subscribers to our service become members of the Co-op. The Co-op collectively agrees to have CleanFilms purchase original, un-edited DVD movies in their behalf.
Since technically a DVD is a piece of software, copyright law allows for the owner of the software to make a backup copy of the software. This backup copy can be edited. The Co-op always maintains a 1 to 1 ratio of edited and non-edited originals.
As collective owners of the original, unedited movies, the Co-op has the right to have CleanFilms make family edited backup copies of the originals to edit out content that is objectionable to its members - similar to how you might press mute to avoid hearing objectionable language today. Accordingly, you must subscribe as a member of the rental club before you can rent edited movies.
CleanFilms is providing a service.
It is bending the rules somewhat I grant you but don't you think the Motion Picture industry would be going after them like jackels if it was indeed illegal? Look at the zeal they have in going after those who download movies off the Internet. If this company was indeed doing prosecutable - they would have been shut down in a heartbeat.

I love the version of "Old Yeller" where he lives a long and fruitful life, finally dying of old age.

I'm afraid to ask which 6 minutes of Resevoir Dogs they left in? The scenes with the cop posing in front of the mirror?

That's the best part of a film!
I rented Kill Bill and got The Bride ordering Sushi and learning how to say "Thank you" in Japanese. Then Credits.
Q. Are there any movies that you won't offer as family edited?
A. Yes. There are some movies that we will not have edited or offer for rental due to the overall theme or number of required edits. This includes:
Addicted To Love
American History X
Analyze This
Basic Instinct
Blair Witch Project
Caddyshack
Election
Eyes Wide Shut
Gross Pointe Blank
Hannibal
Liar Liar
Payback
Pretty Woman
Primary Colors
Return Of The Dragon
Rounders
Show Girls
Silence of the Lambs
The Story Of Us
Some of those I understand, but "Liar, Liar"? "Caddyshack"? And I guess they will edit "Resevoir Dogs".
I'm looking at what they offer:
"A Perfect Murder (1998)" ?!?! It's got the word MURDER in the title and the whole movie is about a dude hiring Aragorn to kill his wife (who's 25-30 years younger then him)
"The Ring (2002)" The movie about a video tape that kills anyone who watches it
How do you make these "Family Safe"?

I'm just distressed at the unwaranted bashing of John Wayne in this thread.
