Why don't you do a Super Bowl box pool for bragging rights? The first 100 people (OK, make it 50 because I have no idea how many active members are currently on this messageboard) to pick 2 numbers are entered.

I'll start it off...give me 11 & 79

Once all the numbers are taken, then randomly draw the scores and post them.

I'm sure Sticky or Wadd would be happy to run this mess.

that box looks a little empty. we may have to take like 25 boxes each the way it;s going. anyone here in a big money box pool? i couldn't find any real good ones this year. the only one i got was 100 per box, 5000 final would be nice though.

The only prize right now is the warm, fuzzy feeling of knowing you would have won something if we had prizes.

Let me know if we're allowed to award prizes. I might put something up for grabs later. Maybe someone else could put something up so we could have a prize for halftime too.

Jon- everyone gets to pick two numbers so pick another number if you want.

monsterone - same for you since Iamnotatool beat you to 13.

powerdump, ronfez.net has no policies concerning giving away free crap. We're all for it. IM or PM me and maybe we can find a thing or two to give away.

ok, we had a powwow. There will be two prizes.

At halftime, there will be a winner of an RF.Net Jersey from last summer's softball games. Winner can have name/number added for free from the Sports Section in Cedar Grove, NJ.

At the end of the game, there will be a $20 gift certificate to amazon.com donated by powerdump5000 for the winner.

The grid closes when all boxes are filled or by 3pm game day. Grid will be posted by powerdump at approximately 3pm on game day. Rules will be posted by powerdump and are subject to change at his discresion prior to game day. (Yeah, we're letting out rules so people can't complain they didn't have a fair chance at prizes)

Any questions can be addressed here or in private to myself or powerdump.

Like Jon said, now that we have prizes, we've got rules - just to keep things fair and also for the benefit of those who want to play but don't know how the game works. It's probably overkill, but here they are:

RF.net Super Bowl Grid Game Rules

Eligibility

1. The game is open to all members in good standing of ronfez.net and is free to play.

The Game

1. Each entrant will be allowed to pick up to two (2) available numbered boxes from the game grid (see link at the bottom of the post). Each entrant must then post the numbers of the boxes that he or she has selected in this thread in order to become a valid selection.

2. Numbered boxes are assigned on a first come, first serve basis based upon date and time stamp of the post and order of post within the thread. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that the numbered boxes that he or she has selected have not already been selected by checking the game grid and this thread.

3. If an entrant selects a numbered box or boxes that have already been selected they will be asked to select another numbered box or boxes via post in this thread. If another selection is required, it is the responsibility of the entrant to make this selection prior to the close of the game. If the entrant fails to make a new selection prior to the close of the game the entrant will not be allowed to make any selections which will result in either reduced odd of winning (one numbered box selected) or elimination from the game (no numbered boxes selected).

4. The game will be closed at 3 p.m. EST, Sunday, February 1, 2004 or when all number boxes have been taken, which ever comes first. The game grid will be updated at least once daily, possibly more depending upon game activity.

5. Once the game has closed, the numbers 0-9 will be randomly drawn and placed in the thin boxes at the beginning of each row or column. There will be one random draw for the rows (Panthers) and a separate random draw for the columns (Patriots).

6. Winners will be determined by taking the number from the `ones column' of each teams score. The winning box will be the intersection of the respective row or column for each number.

Example 1
Suppose the score at halftime is Panthers 14, Patriots 6. The winner would be:
<IMG SRC="http://hstrial-gschwarz.homestead.com/example1.jpg">

Example 2
Suppose the final score is Patriots 27, Panthers 21. The winner would be:
<IMG SRC="http://hstrial-gschwarz.homestead.com/example2.jpg">

Prizes

1. Two (2) prizes will be awarded.

a. The prize for the score at halftime will be a RF.Net Jersey from last summer's softball games courtesy of JustJon. Winner can have name/number added for free from the Sports Section in Cedar Grove, NJ.

b. The prize for the final score will be a $20 e-certificate from amazon.com courtesy of me.

2. Prize winners will have to PM JustJon or myself (powerdump5000) with the appropriate information (mailing address, e-mail address, etc.) in order to claim prizes.

3. Winners will be determined and prizes will be awarded at the sole discretion of JustJon and myself.

4. All rules are subject to change.

I just updated the game board.

New Players- The long, official version of the rules is on the first page of this thread but here's the short version to get you started:

* Game is free to play and open to all members of ronfez.net in good standing.

* Pick two numbers from the game board (link below) and post them in this thread.

* Numbers are handed out on a first come, first served basis so you may want to check the thread to make sure the numbers you want are available since I only get to update the game board about once a day.

* If someone beat you to a number, you will be asked to pick another number.

* Check this thread after the Super Bowl to see if you won a prize.

* Prizes are:

- for Halftime Score - RF.net softball jersey courtesy of JustJon

- for Final Score - $20 e-certificate to amazon.com courtesy of me.

Good luck to all and thanks to those who are already in for playing.

I don't really get it but I'll play anyway.
cliff notes:

there's a grid with 10 numbers across the top (New England), 10 down the side (Carolina), in random order. At half time, take the last digit of each score and check if the numbers corrospond with your box, if they did, you win. Same for the end of the game.

i.e. if the halftime score is Carolina 17, New England 14. You find 7 on the left side for Carolina's score and 4 across the top for NE's score. If the box where the two meet has your name in it, you win.
