View Full Version : I Lost My Debit Card

I went to the Dave and Busters on Long Island the other night and the bartender asked for a credit card so I could run a tab with my friends. After a night of drinking when I squared up with her she never returned my debit card.
Unfortunately I didn't realize this until after I called my bank and reported it lost yesterday. (like I said, I was drinking)
Now for the next 7 to 10 business days if I want cash I have to go to the actual bank, a fate worse than death.
That bartender ruined my life.

not sure what bank you use, but I think that Chase would give you a temp card at the bank until your perm one shows up....

I thought I lost my debit card a few weeks ago. I checked my wallet and pocketbook several times, so I went to the bank and got a new one. They did give me a temporaty atm card to use. A week later I found the "lost card" in my pocketbook.

Good idea. Wormskie - check Jenn's pocketbook before you do anything else.
Why won't they realize that I have turned over a new leaf for 2004? So many others have gotten so many chances here, all I am asking for is my 2nd Chance.

Same bullshit happened to me. I was at a 7-11 and i couldn't find my card, so i had to run home and get some cash. I called to get a new one and I was fucked for like a week. The banks are only open till 3 so i never had time to get to one. But then i got my new one, and everything went back to normal.
Until I found my old card in my wallet!!!!! I was sooooooo pissed off. As a matter of fact, it still makes me angry

It's actually a credit union. For the most part its decent, they have good rates on loans, free checking and that stuff like that but now I know that they suck when it comes to replacing an ATM card.

I lost mine in Atlantic City once. Someone found it and ran up over 500 bucks in Target and WalMart, and I ended up bouncing checks. Thankfully I got it all back from the bank immediately and they reimbursed me for the bounced check fees.

I refuse to let the bank give me a debit card - I only have an ATM card and a credit card. I figure if my credit card gets stolen, or if there are any bogus charges on it, I'll be able to correct it without losing money, unlike the debit that takes the money out of the account.

That sucks. A few months ago my girlfriends wallet was stollen while she was in a store. She realized it when she went to pay and by the time she called to cancel the card (maybe 30 minutes), someone racked up a few hundred dollars on it.
