It's time to start this crap up. If the election were today, who would you choose? All non-Bush votes will be counted as Pat Buchannan, all military personnel will have their votes lost at sea, and none of this really matters because the thread will be moved to the Mod Forum for a final decision based on the hairiest back.

Today, right at this moment?

It stinks that the closest thing to a conservative on that list is George Bush....so i gotta say i'll vote for him....even though I don't like the massive spending, the Marriage Amendment, or the Immigration stuff...

cuz
1. He accomplished something worthwhile with his life
2. His positions on the issues (however recently he adopted them) are good ones.
3. He's a chick magnet (see below) ;)

How does somebody go from voting from Nader to Bush? I'm not being confrontational or angry, I'm just extremely curious.

I voted for Sharpton because I was watching Malcom X on IFC last night and even while a clear 50 feet out of frame Rev. Al still managed to out shout an in frame Denzel Washington. That's the kind of can-do attitude I want in the artist formerly known as the White House.

Mostly it's the Democrats' fault.

They've presented nobody at this point that I honestly think could do a better job than Bush, or have people around them that could maintain what's in place right now.

I strongly disagree with the reasoning behind the Iraq invasion, but ultimately I support the removal if Hussein, and as worried as I am about THIS administration handling post-war Iraq, the Democrats have come across, to me, like they'll scramble to get out of there as quickly as possible. I don't have confidence in them handling the situation better, or even at that the level Bush and Co. currently are.

The economy is showing huge signs of recovery. We just had the Dow at its highest point in three years today. Unemployment is dropping all over the place. We're showing obvious signs of economic recovery.

Socially, the guy has catered FAR more to the middle than anyone on the left gives him credit for. To hear them talk, he's the second coming of Hitler, and I'm tried of this "anyone is better than Bush" talk, because it's clearly not true.

He's a HUGE ally of the intelligence community. While Clinton didn't overly hinder them, Bush has opened them up to really, REALLY fight the battle against terror as it needs to be fought. People REALLY take the fact there haven't been any more attacks in America for granted. A HUGE amount of work has gone into stopping this, and a lot of it as a result being such a staunch supporter and ally of the intelligence community, namely, the CIA, and seeing as that's a "family business" for me, that goes a long way.

I don't know. I just don't hate the guy even though people who supposedly think like me tell me I should. Why? What has he done that's so horrible? My main gripe is his presentation of American foreign relations, but again, I don't see any of the Dems capable of doing any better.

Fair enough. One thing I'd challenge you on is the economy. The Dow is up, the unemployment rate is down, the GDP was went up at a ridiculous rate, but jobs are being created at a trickle. Furthermore, jobs that have recently been created are paying far less than the ones they replaced.

Look at this. (http://www.epinet.org/content.cfm/webfeatures_snapshots)

From the end of the recession until November 2003, 48 out of 50 states saw an employment shift into lower paying jobs. Basically, high salary jobs are being lost and not recovered. This troubles me more than anything, because all economic indicators are up. SOMEBODY is doing good in this economy. I hope this changes, soon.

Interesting voting so far.

Obviously, it'll just be one Democrat vs. Bush come the fall. And if you add up the votes for all the Dem candidates, it's a dead heat with Bush thus far.

Gonna be an election to watch.

I just don't trust that Bush guy. Never have never will. The bastard is such a shady waste.

That being said the democrats aren't looking too well either. Can a politician be trusted and not shady? Not to mention the soon to be leader of the free world?

That being said I haven't followed anything remotely political in the last 6 months.

My vote so far goes with Kerry because Dean will be recording with Eddie and Alex and Wesley Clark...hmmm, I don't mind the military guy but I would vote for Colin Powell first in a heartbeat in a heartbeat. (sorry, watching Goodfellas)

It was going to be Bush, but as I stated in an earlier thread, he lost my vote over the guest worker program. now I'll just throw my vote away on on a goof. Libitarian or someother nutbar that has no chance of winning.

Not like it matters, NY usual goes Democrat. It hasn't gone Republican since 1984.
