Tonight I saw North by Northwest at a theater in Brooklyn (this theater will also be showing The Godfather and Godfather 2 later this month on the 22nd and 29th) and was wondering- who do you think was cooler: Jimmy Stewart or Cary Grant? Even though Stewart made more classic films, I think that Grant is better.

It's a hard comparison.
Grant was the ladies man, the handsome lead in the "romantic screwball comedy" genre. He was very talented. However, Jimmy Stewart was the better actor.

I like Jimmy Stewert cause he seemed to be a natural at westerns. But Cary Grant!!...bah...he reminds and almost looks like that friggin queen Rock Hudson..and what a shame about him!

Hell we probably saw each other.

I've never been there before yesterday (I even took the wrong subway and ended up about 15 blocks up and 15 blocks over) but they seem to have cool shit playing. As I mentioned Godfather 22-23nd, Godfather 2 29th and American Werewolf in London October 1-2nd.

They are both great Cary was definitely very suave and debonair. He was alwasy the classy guy that the ladies would die for.

Mr. Blandings builds his dream house, Mr. Lucky, Holiday, Arsenic and Old Lace, I was a male warbride... to name a few.

Jimmy was more all american guy next door.

You cant take it with you, Its a wonderful life, Mr Smith goes to Washington, Philadelphia Story (both), Lucky town, Harvey, are a few of my favorites.

Today our best actors still do not have the class or style of those two.

That's another thing I realized jafter. When I was watching it I was wondering if they ever remake NBNW who could pull off Cary Grant and I realized that there is no actor today who has the suaveness and coolosity in the role Grant or Stewart had. I did hear when Six Days, Seven nights came out that critics said that Harrison Ford was the closet to Cary Grant and Ford is a great actor but I don't think he's really as suave anymore as he once was.

I can't even think of an up and comer who could do that either.
