Does anyone remember who Kitty Genovese is....?

But I heard about Kitty from this story....this happened on sunday night...fucking animals ran the girl over three times.... (http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/Northeast/01/21/triple.hit.run.ap/index.html)

I do not know about anyone else...but it is stories like this that make me almost vomit because of how disgusting and low we human beings can be.
These stories make fictional charachters like the Punisher seem nesseccary.
It did seem however at least Natalie Guzman had her friends trying to help her.

I really hope they get all three of the bastards/bitches who were driving those vehicles. They should be tied to the back of 4 Tractor Trailors all going in different directions and pulled apart alive.

I remember this story growing up. It was very commonly told in the 70's but doesn't seem to be told any more. It was very reflective of the general attitude in New York at the time which was common for people not to get involved. You will notice this attitude is commonly reflected in movies and TV shows made in NY in the 60's and 70's.

Kitty's sad story was pretty much the gold standard if anyone wanted a "look how shitty and evil and hopeless it is in NYC"-story when I was growing up.

And I'm not that squeamish when it comes to gore, but that Black Dalia case is just fucking gross.

And I fail to see how these stories are connected. When Kitty was killed, people heard what was going on, but did nothing. Three cars hit Natalie. How are pedestrians supposed to stop 3 speeding 2-ton SUV's? Kitty died alone and bleeding. People came to Natalie's aid when she was hit. Remember, they dove out of the way the second time.

So how are these two cases similar? The killers were cold and vicious? Isn't that the definition of a first-degree murderer? By that rational every murder in NY and indeed the world is similar to Kitty's. I just don't see why that incident is being invoked here.

And as fas as the similarities...they are saying how cold blooded the other 2 vehicles are for hitting the girl and then kept going. None of ther three vehicles stopped. NONE of them. Unless all three were connected and all three WANTED to hit her...then that means there are 3 different people who could have give a shit that they hit someone (the last one at 60-80 mph). Just like the people back in 1965 did not give a shit to call the police when Kitty was being stabbed.

I think it was the implications the girls family had made because she was involved in some bar fight that one or more of the cars were involved.
But from the way I read it the police think the 1st may have been foul play and the other two were just some assholes who did not care they hit someone they kept going.
