What happened to all the badass rock bands?

what happened to all of the badass rockers like the stones, aerosmith, zeppelin, van halen, the who etc.... I miss that era where they couldn't care less what anyone thought, and they always looked like they were having fun when they were playing. Rock just doesn't seem fun anymore.

I think the management would drop them like the plauge if they pulled any of that stuff now. Just too much negative publicity. It's sad too because it made those groups that much better.

I'm sure there are plenty of kickass bands out there. It depends upon how much you look for it yourself. Depending upon the radio and MTv for exposure to music is just asking for monotony and cloned products.

And what "stuff" are you even talking about? Most of the bands out there probably enjoy the fuck out of what they do. Almost sounds like you want the musicians' personal antics to outweigh their music...which is exactly what happened with all of the bands you listed.

I knew my message might be misunderstood this way, by the way Zeppelins musical skill hit me way before I even knew they were regarded as crazy "sex drugs and rock n roll".

I was recently at an Rx bandit and Mae show in NJ and I know they talk about how they love playing in interviews and things like that but it just doesn't seem like that and they take music too seriously

Well, part of the problem is that you saw RX Bandits live.

Zeppelin's a perfect example. I bet if you polled 100 people, they'd say that the first thing that came to mind when someone says "Led Zeppelin" is that they were involved in a girl getting fucked by a mudshark.
