Italian Wedding Soup???

Why is Italian Wedding Soup called what it's called?

I've been to many an Italian wedding and I've never gotten Italian Wedding soup, let alone really any soup. I think once or twice I've been given chicken noodle soup, but that's about it.

Why do they call it this?

i went to a bar/restaurant place that has specials hand written on photo-copied colored paper.

The soup of the day was manhattan clam chowder but whoever made up the menu abbreviated it to
Man Chowder. I laughed for about 5 minutes before pointing it out to the waitress.
