In an off-the-record conversation with a dozen reporters earlier this week, General Wesley Clark plainly stated: 'Kerry will implode over an intern issue'...

A serious investigation of the woman and the nature of her relationship with Sen. John Kerry has been underway at TIME magazine, ABC NEWS, the WASHINGTON POST and the ASSOCIATED PRESS, where the woman in question once worked...

Who knows what's going on.

On the one hand, this is Drudge.

On the other hand, it's Drudge - who was right about that OTHER Democrat and an intern.

But goddamn, I said it yesterday and it's going to be true - this is going to be an absolute brutal, bloody mess of an election year.

I guess this is why Dean has upped his attacks agains Kerry and why he decided to stay in the race after Wisconsin. The democrat party is falling apart at the seams.

I see that someone already covered the Wes Clark comment. But ya know, I felt the need to reinforce it.

It's not a direct quote because it was said off the record. Unconfirmed sources planted this with Drudge at a time when Kerry was rising and Bush was sinking, hoping it would pick up some steam. By the time Clark comes out and denies ever saying that, enough "right thinking Americans" who want to believe it will already believe it to be true, and think he's covering Kerry's ass to be considered for VP.

You can see the glee on their lilly white faces over this - problem is, Kerry is not Clinton; there is nothing to indicate in his career that he was a womanizer (now, Gepheart...that's another story, which I'll share as soon as I get around to my Jodie Foster story), and the fact that this phantom woman left the country (I wonder if Fez's fiance knows her?) - I ain't buying it.

I've been wrong before (actually only once, but I was actually mistaken), and if I am then Kerry should address the issue up front and move on.

So much for GW setting the tone for this country.

I stand by my original comment that the Drudge "article" was bullshit.

But there's one huge problem with the story, which raced through newsrooms across the country like a computer virus: Nobody has been able to confirm that it was true. (http://www.philly.com/mld/dailynews/news/local/7943785.htm)

And further in this report, it speculates that Clark was making a reference to Kerry's wild batchelor days, which should not be news. ALthough it is interesting that Clark's top aid, Chris Lehane, may have actually been the one to float the story right as Clark was bowing out.
