For me, it's simple: discuss this once the basics are nailed.
The show, in my opinion, can Not go on as it is in terms of simple studio show prep. Computers aren't up, copy isn't around or is out of order or impossible to read, the carts aren't where they need to be, and if they have to; find a human, any human, to sit there near the cowbell and hit it enthusiastically when signaled by Ron or Fez.
I'm at a loss. If I ask WB why this isn't getting done, I'm overbearing [which I indeed am]. I'm not telling Ron again, I've emailed him at length on it; listing the Checklists, the essentials, and telling WB these should be treated like a fucking Shuttle Launch Checklist. Meaning they are done 100%, every page of copy every cart every mic every channel every bottle of water everything else, the 101, ready to go at 6:45 pm. Latest. 7pm is far too late to be ready. I sound like the Remote Producer here, but when it doesn't get done the contests and live reads and give-aways get fucked.
You rarely if ever hear shows that have trainwrecked some give-aways as the show has lately, and hence, R+Fs ability to do what should be essentially: have fun and do the show. Hey I gotta say it; it was bad enough Ron was saying it on-air; I agree.
Why is it not getting done? I don't know, and I'm not asking.

Here the real life corollary. When I worked at the Stone Pony, it was as DJ, but that means, if you wanna be useful, you make yourself available for doing stuff like rider runs and the catering and some of the stage set-up.
And in every good band, there is a stage manager, or techs, and these guys are so OCD about having everylittle thing right for the artist it's beyond rediculous. Read some of the riders of the uber-famous at smoking gun dot com.
The thing is, we had to treat something like the fact that there should be Four 20-oz. Poland Spring Squeeze bottle type water bottle with the caps removed on ice, along with four Heinekens, to the rear left of the drum riser. Now this was treated as importantly as the fire codes by many managers. The funny part in Spinal Tap where the bread isn;t the right shape is hilarious because it happens all the fucking time. I've seen acts, managers, techs, etc, have collosal tantrums about this shit.
Is it important? That's not the question. The issue is that it get's done. The guys at the Pony would have me check the House Current to see if the mains were drifting. I mean the most rediculous technical shit that would never go wrong, but theyre gonna check it every single fucking night, because we arent gonna sit there with our thumbs up our asses looking at 1200 people who just watched the guitar rig fail for two songs because someone forgot one simple part of the chain that worked every night, we'd assumed worked every night, so why check it? Cause the shit fails all the time, and suddenly. And the show gets fucked.
And R+F arent prima donnas like I've described above, thats mostly metal bands. But shit, ya know? We took that stuff seriously, and the artist could tell, and it made the show work.
Alright get rid of him but who's his replacement?
I would hope he wouldnt be replaced. I would hope the show became produced.

I don't really want to see him go, but he's clearly not producing. Like Mike said, the show is becoming a wreck, technical-wise. Keep him on, but in a less primary role.
I think we all know WJFK as a studio is a wreck and hopelessly out of the loop. But shows there HAVE made it work. D&M manage to pull off what sounds like a professional show nine times out of ten, and even the Sports Junkies could pull it off, and they and their staff were the biggest group of radio amateurs around when they pulled in.
R&F need someone who either is familiar with the layout at WJFK and can take care of things (El Jefe, maybe? Wasn't he doing all this before?), or someone who comes in and is trained "fresh" in that setting. WNEW, for all it's faults, was clearly leaps and bounds ahead of WJFK in terms of tech, resources and production equipment/materials. Maybe being broken in there is actually hurting Wonderboy, and they need someone else to step in.

Yes, he was, but I don't think he had any interest in being a full-time producer.

Is there anyway we can get a net and shoot it out to Cali. to get Billy staples ass back in the studio??
If not, Rory? Or maybe Hawk? The thing is, whoever they get have got to be funny on the air. Or at least entertaining for however long R and F let them speak.
Or, maybe we can trade in Wonderboy and get Billy plus, some behind-the-scenes producer that isn't alowed on the air. That way we get the comedy gold of Billy and some real producing gets done.
I was listening the other night and Wonderboy was on and the energy level was down then, Jdubbs comes in and makes a funny crack. All of a sudden Ron is busting his balls and Fez joins in and everyone is laughing. Then Wonderboy comes back in and the energy is sucked back out of the
show.

My only real issue with Wonder Boy as the full time producer for Ron and Fez is pretty much the same one I've always had (and it's not limited to him) - it's the miopic view of Washington DC from people who don't have a longterm memory of the DC area.
Of course R&F won't have this - they are Tampa and Philly by way of NY. However, they should have someone on their inside staff that has some sort of long term connection to the area to help bridge the gaps.
DC is not all politics in the city, and rednecks in the burbs. Not everyone is a Redskin fan (the second largest number of official members of the Dallas Cowboy Fanclub is in the DC metro area). And R&F need a producer that takes advantage of what's here - someone who is connected to the various outlets in DC, and knows the show and the boys well enough to know who will work.
WB is not from here; J Dubs isn't from here; Jefe isn't from here. When a guest or listener comes on and mentions "Emmit Swimming," anyone that has lived in the area for more than 5 years knows who you are talking about; when someone else mentions that Sandra Bullock grew up in the area - that's common knowledge to anyone that's been here for 10 years or more. There should be a pressence on the show that knows this stuff.
That's all the ball busting I really want to do - R&F really have bigger issues than their producer right now (securing one show once a day).
Besides - how bad a job can he be doing when some of the best DC shows in the last year (in my opinion) have been in the last month? Of course I give 98% of the credit to R&F, but I'd like to think WB has helped them out in some way.
Ooop! Another "behind the scenes" thesis time!

Indeedaroni, aroonie, aroonie-McValta-aroonie-moe. Hello Deh, Mr. Remotes Producers! Dis am yo wake-up calls! The reason the studio isn't set up at 6:45 is because the show that pays everyone's salary is still on the air then. Are you done with that urinals? Can I shakes yo penis? Cause I sho gots to go!!!

Yeah, but he didn't drag the show down. I never could understand the people that HATED Al Dukes. I loved the guy. Look at all of the radio gold moments he brought.
Now I understand the hatred!!!

Emmett Swimming is some band, right? Also, no one cares where Sandra Bullock grew up. A good producer is one who can produce a show that appeals to the target audience in any market. Local, shmocal.
