I use the computer a lot and have a mouse and keyboard with a gel wrist rest, and for the past month, when my wrist is pressing against it for a while, it hurts. I feel it aching in the wrist area and my fingers seem a little less strong than they usually do, like a mild weakness. At work I have these 5 lb hand weights and I curl them between phone calls and hold them palm up and allow the weight to roll to my fingertips and draw it up into a fist again and bend the fist towards me, so I can strengthen my forearms. Now, I dont know if its from the wrist pressing against the gel, cutting off circulation, or the excercises, but its only painfull when my wrist is against it for extended periods. Is there another kind of mouse that doesnt require my arm to rest on the table, like something I can hold in my hand while my elbow is on the arm rest?

There are a number of websites dedicated to the teaching of proper ergonomics and various excersises that people can do to avoid getting carpal tunnel syndrome.
That said though, if you're feeling pain you should go to a doctor to have it checked out. Also visit some websites on the subject and see if the symptoms sound like what you are experiencing.
