Psyche! (I just wanted to make some people's ass's pucker).
I have no idea what it is, but last night they hinted that they will hopefully announce something tonight, possibly tying it in with St. Patrick's Day. They also mentioned that they are trying for something in Virginia.
Hopefully we'll find out something tonight, so I'm not going to get into my favorite game of speculating, however I will get into my 2nd favorite game of giving un-asked for advice, regarding some places in and around the DC area that would be good - if you can think of some good venues for future events, chime on in.
Here are some of my Virginia alternatives to Dave and Busters:
* The Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse - nice and big, they serve beer, and they have a stage; close to me
* The Barns of Wolftrap - really close to the studio; excellent set up for a live event; huge stage; balcony for Mizzle and AJ to make out in. Not that close to me, though.
* Iota - small club; very intimate; use to multiple live gigs in one night; very close to me.
* The State Theatre - Jim Norton played there; it's close to the studio; has a balcony for Mojo and Yerrdaddy to make out in; close to me
* The Birchmere - has two stage options; the outer "grandstand" one has a big stage, and lots of roaming around room; close to me
* Jaxx - the ultimate Hair Band experience; fun little dive; close to Jafter
* Clarendon Ballroom - the Junks broadcast from there last year; Joshua Tree played there; close to me
In Maryland
* The AFI Silver Theatre - three huge theatres; they have had bands play there; near metro
* The Round House Theatre - Stage theatre; lots of space; might be best to tap them in the summer between seasons
* Glen Echo Park - old kiddy park; has merry go round; really cool set up
I know there are more...
DC
* ESPN Zone - Rob was just there; convenient for everyone, and yet convenient for no one
* The AFI THeater at the Kennedy Center - big, ok, has a nice stage now
* The Hard Rock - NOt nearly as cool as NY, but hey...it's still a hard rock, and they do get bands in
* Lulu's - Fun place; use to host other WJFK shows there in the past
* Nation - Not in the best section of town, but hey - who says everything has to be easy?
* Black Cat - co owned by Dave Grohl; cool club; good music
* 9:30 Club - not sure if they ever have nights off with no acts coming through there
There you go...feel free to add more...
Time to go nail this to the WJFK door.
