It's harder to dig out three days later and cause 2000 years of trouble.

We put a bottle of whiskey on my dad's gravestone but he drank it all being that he was still alive! Non-dead bastard!

As hyper said, I was taught that you leave a stone to show that you visited

The point isn't who put the stone there, just that you took a stone from the ground and put it atop the tombstone.

And if no one was around, like you'd leave money out in the middle of a cemetary if you saw it there.

one time, we went to visit my grandmother's grave, and my sister put the stones on the wrong tombstone. it was pretty funny... ya know, for a cemetary.

it was actually quite the quandary. we didn't know whether or not to take the stones off the wrong tombstone and put them on the right one. in the end, we figured that would be wrong, so we just gathered more.
