Ive got this new comp, with this panisonic camera/camcorder my mother uses to upload the pics to the comp. I pluged the cord into the back , its not a USB cable, but a cord with pins, how do I get the computer and this built in software to reginize the camera?

If its a new comp, it should prompt you on startup when you reboot that it has detected a new device. Try turning the computer off and then on again, and have the disk handy, incase it needs the driver thats on the disk.

and make sure it's a camcorder and not a puppy.

Funny guys!!

If you don't have the disk for the driver, go the website for the brand of camcorder and download the driver.

parallel or serial port plug? And who would design such a thing in this day and age? You should be all about the firewire!

its most likely firewire. theres no serial or parallel port that can handle that data at a tolerable speed.

If it has pins it's most likely serial. I have a friend who had a camera like that. Serial can handle it, though very very badly. My suggestion is to not even bother, just get a good new camera with either USB or Firewire.

I went out and bought some ghetto softaware called PC relocator, by Alohabob, that included a Parallel Transfer cable. Now that worked however It took the old windows98 files with it and copied them to the new computer. I had to restore the settings from the day of setting up this thing. This new computer, a Dell 2400 did NOT come with a firewire connection, it did come with several USB ports. All I wanted was a simpler way and for future reference I need a way to transfer LARGER amounts of data from one PC to another without disks

Ok heres another question, I formated and restored the factory settings on the old computer. My mother cant seem to find the Windows 98 disk with the product key on it. What can I do if she still cant find it?

Wipe her system out and put in Windows XP, you wont have any of these issues and it will be more stable.

How do I wipe out that? Do I have some type of option to start up in DOS and delete Windows 98?
