You see that? I had to use the number 4 instead of the word "For" because of these too-short title limitations. But anyway, it turns out John Kerry's opinion on Stern is right on track with Bush's. So, once again, truth be told: whether Republican or Democrat, you're a dirty politician and you don't give a rat's ass about the people.

Kerry Loves Homogenous, Corporate-Run Radio As Much As Bush (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040229/ap_on_el_pr/kerry_stern_3)

[Kerry said he disagrees that Stern faces repression.

"If you are working for somebody and they have a set of rules, that's the deal," Kerry said. "And it doesn't mean he can't go out and say it somewhere if somebody else wants to have him say that." ]

That's a rich comment. The folks Stern (and others) are/were working for DIDN'T have a set of rules or problems. They only discovered they had a problem when the government informed them that they had better "find" a problem or find their way to the unemployment line.

Kerry's an idiot. He could have pretty much ensured his election by absorbing a growing number of even conservative folks who are angry with Bush over this FCC stuff and the gay marriage stance.

A pox on all of these pseudo "listening to the people" politicians

kerry didnt say anything wrong there. the only one at fault is the head of clearchannel for lopping his balls off the day before his congressional hearing.

radio's been a lost cause for a while now. it seems very likely O&A will return on satellite. thats good cuz they'll be unbridled, but bad because they'll have a smaller audience and less funny callers.

its commendable that you still care, but fm radio's gone down a path from which it'll NEVER return. they're not after listeners who think for themselves, or want something different in their entertainment. its catered to the masses and there just arent enough of us to make the executives care.

Kerry didn't understand the issue. He was asked what he thought about Stern being taken off the air without knowing the reasoning behind the policies that led to it.

You are telling me that Kerry's handlers, writers, and other assorted staff has no idea this is going on? AND that they wouldn't have already prepped him for a response? This isn't an overnight happening. We've been talking about it for 2 plus weeks now.

And if he really didn't understand what he was being asked, than his putziness is only slightly above Bush's.

Either way, I'm discouraged by my options come election day.

And where are the Free Speech advocates now??!! What does the ACLU have to say on this? Where are the people who scream for artistic rights and grants?

I don't get the silence. I'm starting to get a more than a little worried.

I 've been checking Kerry's website for the last couple of weeks to see if he addresses the FCC issue. What I have found out is that Kerry is basically a Republican dressed as a democrat.

A good way to threaten somebody is to light a stick of dynamite. Then you call the guy and hold the burning fuse up to the phone. "Hear that?" you say. "That's dynamite, baby."

Don't worry by next week he will change his mind about this issue 2 or 3 times anyway. I think he would put Beetlejuice as VP if it meant he would win the presidency.

He was at a rally and reporter walked up and asked him. He may not necessarily knew the point of the question due to the phrasing. I'm not defending him here, but you're reading into things because you do not know the specific question that was asked.

It's about getting a change. Clinton wasn't good for it either, but he wasn't as bad as Bush, and neither will Kerry.

We can still hope that a President Kerry won't use these kinds of issues as smokescreens to avoid dealing with real issues and working with congress to make some legitimate progress for all Americans. I really think he can't do worse, but if he is as bad or worse, we throw his ass too. I have no problem voting against him if the Republican is better.

I'll have butter and syrup on mine, thanks.

I'm not waffling. I never publicly support candidates and rarely post my political opinions. I'm just saying what I read in that article.

What's one side's problem with 'immorality' will simply be the other's 'insensitive and politically incorrect.' Neither will do anything different in regards to the FCC.

Now if the entire climate of the country improves (economy goes gangbusters, bin Laden captured, WMD's found..that top one most of all), chances are a real nationwide mood of optimism will convince people to lighten up, laugh and let others laugh.

This is great news - now Stern's persecution complex can comprise of both Republicans AND Democrats.
