Where is the fifty bucks?!

Last week an 84 year-old man showed up at my office. Apparently he left his wallet at home and needed to borrow $50.00. I spoke to the office manager. She gave me $50.00, with the understanding that it was my responsibility to return the cash. Looking back, I should have said NO, it's not my responsibility, this is an old man who is here on business with our organization. Do you want to lend him the $50.00 or do I have to go to the ATM and lend it to him personally?

So I gave him the $50.00 for which he thanked me, and offered to return by check (he wasn't going to be back in the city soon). So I went back to the office manager, and she said NO, it has to be returned in CASH. So he said OK, I'll have a colleague stop by on Tuesday with the cash. Well Tuesday comes, no cash. Then he calls me on Wednesday to tell me he mailed the cash. MAILED THE CASH?! WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU! THE MAIL ROOM OPENS EVERYTHING!

He told me not to worry, the envelope was marked private & confidential. Well long story short, that was last Wednesday. Five days later and I still don't have it. It's not like he sent it from California. Mail from Yonkers to Manhattan should take a day or so.

The sad thing is that this is an honest man, I'm sure he sent the money, but DAMN, why the fuck did he have to mail cash? At this point, I'm convinced that some scumbag stole it. Shit happens in our office every so often.

At some point I'm going to have to call this guy to say the money didn't show up. This is such a pain in the ass, and it could have been avoided if the office manager didn't have to be such a CUNT about taking a check.

SO WHERE'S THE FUCKING FIFTY BUCKS?!

Damn, I should have taken my own advice and said "you know what, I don't give a fuck, leave me alone, I don't want to know about it" when he came looking for fifty bucks.

Well, things worked out with that file, so I'm hoping that this works out as well. In any event, I'm not laying out the fifty bucks. This man does business with our office, we pay him for services, they should deduct it from his next check.

I hate having to piss & moan about this shit, but I don't like to be a sucker.

Nice to know your company has a trustworthy mailroom that has the companys interest at heart. The mailroom should just forward mail to the destination, not open and inspect the mail. I'd send a memo saying what happened, so that the Neanderthal's in the mailroom hear about how it is they are viewed by the rest of the company.

You should have had him send you the cash in a check made out to you to either work or your home addy, then when you'd cash it you'd have the money to pay it back to the office manager. Sure it would be inconvenient but you'd have the money.

I used to give my grandma a ride to church every Saturday but I'm usually at the radio station now on Saturday's so she has to find her own ride. She's 90 but still has all her faculties together and even walks a mile and a half each day. Anyway, now every Saturday she takes a taxi to church but we learned that for the past few months, when she wants a ride home from church, she's been getting in random strangers' cars and pretending to be senile! When she gets in the car she says, "Oh! I'm sorry! I thought this was my grandson David's car, he usually picks me up from church oh well. *sigh*I guess...I guess I'll have to walk....*sigh*" And then the people feel bad and they give her a ride! But finally she got into one of my moms' friends car and they busted her!! Aw crazy old granny- you so wacky!!!
