Global warming could plunge North America and Western Europe into a deep freeze, possibly within only a few decades. (http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2004/05mar_arctic.htm?list912698)
NASA is usually very tight lipped about admitting many things, but to come out with this news, I think we should listen.

Europe's average temperature would likely drop 5 to 10øC (9 to 18øF), and parts of eastern North America would be chilled somewhat less
and though inconvinient, i dont see 10 degrees being a "deep freeze"

Not in our time it won't be. Definitly eventually it can become a serious and dangerous possibility.
But hey I won't be alive to see it so in the meantime I'll be driving in my Suv while spraying aerosole cans out my open window.

So, if melting ice caps will disrupt the deep sea currents, causing a deep freeze. But woulding the deep freeze then cause freezing ice caps and therefore restore the deep sea currents?

they are talkin about the water currents effecting the air temp wadd, not the water temp.
and furie, basically what i take from this, is yes, it will eventually chill it back to normal.
the article said it would set the temps back to what they were at the end of the ice age. i take that to mean its all a long cycle, and its coming to cooler now, and NO 10 DEGREES IS NOT A BIG DEAL.
its the earth, thats what happens

Exactly. If its 90 in August instead of 100, I won't be bitching. And if it's cold in the winter, fine...I'll be a cold old man bitching about the weather. I can hardly wait.

That ten degree drop would cause armageddon scale agricultural failure, and hence the starvation begins.

also, how long would this take. would it drop 10 degrees over 2 months or over a couple years. or is it steady from now.
point being, we know about it, so we can work to solve the problems before hand, plus if its that gradule, it wont just devastate everythin at once
