I registered my number on the National do not call registry last year and I still get calls from telemarketers, aluminum siding contractors, home improvement companies etc. Obviously there is a flaw in this system, has anyone registered their numbers and still gotten these kind of calls?

We first registered for it a month after it came out, and we were told it wouldn't activate for months. We did get it though. But we got rid of it cuz it cost too much money.

What money? It's supposed to be free.
It worked for me the first 6 months or so, but over the past two weeks, I've been getting bombarded with telemarketer calls.

Maybe there's hidden fees. But if not, then my mom lied to me, or has no clue what she's talking about.

My telemarketer calls have dropped off by about 90%. I was so happy I decided to call everyone in the phone book and tell them about it.

my unsolicited calls have cut down a lot and if one does get through, tell them you're on the list and you won't hear from them again. if you really want to make them shit their pants, ask the caller their name and company, then hang up.
also, i have been getting unsolicted calls on my answering machine - which is a fine if you persue it. i don't remember if i read it on the board or elsewhere, but the company can get fined for leaving a message.

I think they changed the rule b/c it was considered unconstitutional...now they have to at least show their # on your caller ID
and the service is FREE

I'm on the DNC registry and it's worked great for me. The one thing you DO have to do if telemarketers call you is two things.
1) Inform them you're on the DNC.
2) Ask them nicely to take you of their list.
MANY people forget #2.

I work for a database / marketing company, and my group pretty much runs business and consumer files through NCOA, and appends consumer and / or business data to our clients house files for direct marketing. Any time a customer requests phone appending, they are required to sign a do not call waiver, or subscribe for a SAN number with the FTC. They then can either have FTC phone numbers flagged, which means there's a code of some sort indicating whether it's FTC/DNC, or they can have them suppressed, meaning, they get dropped out of the file when we run it through the FTC database. What the clients do after they receive their file back is out of our hands.

i registered a while back and after a few months the calls have stopped. I can't remember the last one I got, but now i'm lonely as no one else calls me.

I didn't sign up on the DNC registry. I just screen my calls. Telemarketers have given up on me.
