i've always wondered that

The Goon Squad is the underground. Declaring war on everything... Declaring war on nothing. We are your children raised on ritalin and prozac, biting the hand that's reared us... pissing down our heros throats.

All we are is all you have made us...Given nothing. Taking everything. Making this world a place of our own.

I believe land is measured by yards and acres.

besides, it doesnt sound right if they were lined up at the 10 yard line, and you're calling it the 30 foot line.

YOU Try saying as a someone runs it in:

"He's at the 270! 271! 272! 273! 274! 275! Look at Him Go! He's at the 283! 284! 285! The 286! He could go all the way! 296! 297! 298! 299! Touchdown! Touchdown; Minnesota..."

Serious Rule Change: Don't center the ball each play. If some pussy runs out of bounds or some QB chucks one to a cameraman; have the team have to field it about 5 yards in from where it went out of bounds. Make for some interesting formations...

I think they do that to save 66% on white paint.

You have to remember alot of the people back then were not educated. So therefore it was easier to go with:

10 yards. for a 1st down instead of 12. (people could count to 10 easier than 12--- Yes 2 more numbers make a difference) Plus it's easier calculate by 5 and 10 as opposed to 6 and 12.

They used Yards instead of Foot and Meters for obvious reasons:
1. Plural for Yard is Yards, but for Foot is Feet. Just add (S) makes it more easier (less thinking).
2. Why not meters? Duh! The metric system was ahead of it's time back then. And it's from Europe! American Football is made in the USA.
3. People played football in their backYARDS....not backFOOT or backMETERS. Hence the field is measured in YARDS.

Glad I could help. :)

Using that logic, you'd expect it to be called YARDball and yet it's FOOTball.

hmmm . . . I think the whole thing was devised by the church to distract us from the truth that the Holy Grail is actually a person and that person is Vince Lombardi.
