NY inspections

I've been looking around for building codes for Nassau but have not been able to locate them. I'm planning on doing up a basement apt and plan on moving walls and whatnot, and need to make the plans meet all building codes. Anyone that worked on this shit would be able to help. What I need to know is if its ok to have pipes exposed along the walls, and if theres a minium space around the furnace and water heater that required.

Try looking if your town/village or city/county has a website, usually they have building codes posted. Try typing in Google/Yahoo "building codes+Hempstead" or whatever town you live in, and look through those pages. Either that or call your towns building department. Usually a plumber would know about the clearences for that stuff too, or a builder.

Yea, I did the token google search, but nothing came up except for a site to order the cd rom which im sure is overpriced and I'm even sure I wont be paying for this information. I'm gonna be asking around at work on Monday but I'm not working with any plumbers or carpenters currently. I'm just hoping someone had some work in thier basement or maybe they happen to know the regs off hand.

Let me clariffy what i'm looking for. The actual codes. The information i need before making plans so i dont make plans violating the building code and waste time being rejected and submitting new plans. Thats what I need. Theres gotta be fucking something online, but I think Hempstead has this info locked up in thier assholes.

Get bids from contractors they will tell you what's legal and what's not. You can go to the building department , but they usually won't help until you have your plans drawn.

wadd, most apartments in li are not up to code/ legal. mostly for tax reasons. consult some contractors - that's your best bet.
