Once again, westchester county looks like the moon with all these damn potholes. in order to prevent hundreds of dollars in damage to your front end you need to drive 10 mph. Especially where I am in the Yonkers and Mt Vernon area. Theres this one pot hole down the street from me which started getting noticeable last week and now morphed into a small crater. I called the DPW about it and they have yet to send someone to fill up the pothole. Meanwhile taxes went up again where I am. This is local government bureacracy and laziness at its finest

yeah, there are some really awful ones in the bronx. right before that drawbridge at 218th street or thereabouts, the street is just covered in potholes. it's really terrible, because there's so many that you literally can't avoid them.
edit: upon further reflection, that might actually still be manhattan. i think once you cross the bridge it's the bronx or something.

they can successfully land a vehicle on Mars but they can't prevent the basic pothole...
what can you say, 'they suck' although a mechanic or two may have a difference of opinion

If you saw the caliber of people doing the pothole repair, you wouldnt doubt that the fix was botched. They are suppose to make sure there is no water in the hole, because once the cold hits, the water on bottom freezes and forces up the asphalt they shoveled into it, then its raised above the surface and when the plow comes, it scrapes the whole patch out and the problem is back. I think the guys who do it are motivated to not do a good job in inticipation of next years overtime refilling in the same hole.
