Write to Mel Karmazin and ask him to change the policy on internet streaming. Tell him that the internet would open his advertisers to a whole new audience. That *you*, the listener will use the advertisers products and services. That he might even be able to charge more for advertisting on shows that are broadcast over the internet. The internet is a market that is worth going into for Infinity broadcasting .

Welcome to the board Liza! But did you really have to beat David Guest so hard? He was such a nice man. A nice man with nice, soft hands!

LOL. My real first name *is* Liza, but I am not Liza Minellie (sp?).

Thanks for welcoming me. I have been out of the R&F loop for a while. Real life, work, and the end of WNEW has kept me away. So forgive me if I am not up to date with some of my comments.

I believe the people who would wish that internet streaming not occur, and put pressure on the stations; are the record companies and the advertisers.

Go figure for the advertisers, one told me it was about control over what demo you were reaching; but the record company stuff I have experienced first hand. A station I worked for would pull the internet stream when they played an album, or an album side. Guess they think someone will record it. I guess some like the sound of the massive Compression in FM radio, I prefer to hear the whole freq spectrum.

You think the compression is bad for fm stereo, you should hear fm stereo being streamed.

That's all well and good except...

Select Infinity Broadcasting stations are already being streamed via Radio@AOL. CBS-FM in New York is just one of them.

Liza,

I believe the major problem with corporate radio streaming has to do with royalties demanded by the voice and music talent used in advertisements. These people who read ad copy feel they should get more money if there's a bigger audience. I remember the WKTU-FM had special software for streaming that muted out certain commercials for that very reason. But I don't think they're streaming anymore. I had thought that the whole royalty thing got settled a year or two ago, but radio stations have been very slow to return to the internet. I'm sure it boils down to money. It always does.

Of course, if you want something bad enough you should just steel it.

Do people just not read my posts anymore, and just go with misinformed knowledge?

INFINITY IS STREAMING ON RADIO AOL.

What's your point? Okay, so Infinity is streaming some content on a rediculously overpriced service. With what AOL for Broadband costs, they can afford to pay royalties. The original poster was presumably wanting to know why RF wasn't being streamed. The likely reason is that Infinity doesn't want to pay the extra royalties to the advertising talent.

inksite.com: Thanks for that information.

And to another who asked if people read posts anymore.
I can't when my lunch break is only 15 mins long and work is
my only access to the web which I can only go on during my
lunch break, which again, is 15 mins long.
