Bingo, Uncle!
I'm trying to remember, because they had all those remotes down near me, in Asbury Park. The WNEW summer remotes at the NJ Shore started small and got to the point where they held one on a Friday and the absenteeism rates for the high schools was something rediculous; I have photos from the very first; which was sparsely attended, a cold day, Muni, Herman, Marty, Joe Piscopo, and, get ready for it... The Hooters!
Saving the day was a visit by Robbie Krieger; it was cool talking to him, and then they segued out of remote and played 'light my fire' and I'm like 'i just talked to the guy who wrote that song.' and that was a pretty cool memory.
Joan Jett, Smithereens, Georgia Satellites, shit who else played there when god knows how many showed; 50,000? The boats lined up off the Casino and it was bedlam. I was backstage for this and have photos taken of the crowd through the stage but I just went looking and can't fucking find them. Blow you away how huge those remotes in Asbury were.
Anyone here at one of those old gigs?

The old WNEW that I remember had the following
Dave Herman and Marty Martinez ( Marty is now on WRAT inJersey doing mornings)
Dennis Elsis
ScottMuni
Carol Miller
Ken Dashow
( though when I fisrt started listening to FM back in the old days, there was this siren on whose voice along would turn a young lad into mush) Her name
Allison Steele The Night Bird
Do not forget they used to sponsor a Summer concert series on Pier 42 in Manhattan and always had great shows
you have two choices: Castration or a one way ticket to New York

Found Them. WNEW Summer Remote; not sure of year. My shots from behind Georgia Satellites playing on a stage next to the Casino in Asbury Park. In the distance, The Convention Hall, and Berkeley Carteret; the CH has had benny goodman, sinatra, the who, the doors, on down.
Beats me how many, the amazing thing was this was back when alcohol flowed freely; people were allowed to bring and consume, and they did.
That one shot got blocked a bit...
Thanx Mods for the Bandwidth; kept the files teeensy.
