I am going to a party tonite at a the house of one of the women I work with. What would be a good gift to bring?

1. a fruit basket
2. bottle of wine
3. a cake or cookies
4. something else?

Its going to be mostly the women and maybe a few of their husbands (maybe 20 people total). She didnt say to bring anything specific, but I heard some saying they were going to cook something. Any ideas?

It's always nice to bring a nice bottle of wine when invited to someone's house. Make sure it has a screw top though, you don't want her to think you're low class.

i think that if you don't know this person that well, a bottle of wine is a good way to go. also, something like a box of chocolates (godiva, or something else good) is probably acceptable.

wine

just don't bring a marble rye. one time i went over to someone's house, and my parents brought a marble rye. well, the hosts forgot to put out the rye and my parents took it back. i was so embarrassed, so i tried to bring it back. i had a friend take the hosts out for a carrage ride while i pulled the rye up to their apartment with a fishing pole. but i got caught when they returned early becuase the horse, Rusty, got sick.

I got 2 bottles, both red and white from Francis Coppola because I have heard people rave about it on here. Im not a big wine drinker but I will sample them if they crack them open. The white was like $12 and the red around $14. Now I just have to find a gift bag..hmmmm...

Im back from the party. It kind of broke up early, but they didnt open my wines! I wanted to try it, it ended up on her counter with a few other things people brought. Would it have been a faux pas to open my own party gift?

If you need gift bags for wines, ask in the liquor store. They usually have them behind the counter.
