This girl in my office recently bought a house on Long Island with her boyfriend and brought her mother along to live with them. Am I jaded, or is this guy a major numbskull?

If they get married and live happily ever after, great, but they're not even engaged. I'm not really close with this girl, so I don't think it's my place to ask too many questions. I hope everything works out for them, but what do you think? Is this guy a dumbass? If they break up, can she get the house?

Again, I don't know the details of their real estate transaction, but I'm pretty sure they bought the house together. Seems to me like a recipe for disaster.

Last year almost to the day my girlfriend and I bought a house together. We did so on the premise that we would get married, so far things are going according to plan.
thank you that is all

I hope the house is in his name.

If the relationship is strong and healthy, then by all means, go for it. If you have any doubts about it or your future, or if things aren't going that great, then DON"T DO IT!!!

I get nervous splitting a bag of popcorn. But if they are both serious, then go for it.... but the guy better have a shed out in the back. You need the shed to get away sometimes.

The guy is a dumbass if he didn't get his name somewhere on the paperwork. Whenever you are dealing financially with a boyfriend/girlfriend and even your own family, see a lawyer and get everything in writing.

on a side note, i'm wary of women that are too close to their mothers.. if you fuck up even a little bit or are fighting at all, she's on the phone with mom in a heartbeat. And mom is like an elephant, she never forgets, no matter how much time has passed.. that's why I only date women whose parents are both dead

Moms are even more unforgiving if you date their dead daughters. . . . . or so I hear.

I'm not sure what would cause someone to think "Hell yea, let's move in together. Heck, let's buy a house. You know what, now that I think about it - let's make it perfect. Hey MOM! Come on over, we've got an extra bedroom".

That's kind of like telling the highwire artist that you greased up his wire to keep it from rusting.
