Considering I drink a 7 and 7 on a semi-regular basis, I'd really like to know your logic behind this.

Because it's a sweet drink? By that logic, a Jack and Coke is a girl drink.

For one a "Gibson" is vodka with a cocktail onion not olives if you have it with olives your drinking a "Vodka Martini" I was a bartender for 5 years, and a 7&7 is not a girly drink and a "manhattan" is not girly it is all whisky with a splash of vermouth.

Oops, you're right.. I did mess up my drinks. Technically, if one asks for a gibson, the bartender should assume one is requesting gin.. although the last bartender I requested a vodka gibson from didn't know what it was.
