Ghost Town

This link (http://www.angelfire.com/extreme4/kiddofspeed/) is a photo journal of a journey through the radioactive wasteland surrounding Chernobyl. I am at a loss of words to describe it. I think I have a somewhat profound vocabulary (I did very well on my SAT verbals), but then I see this and I cannot think of any one word that can accurately describe it. Not one.
