A bee flew at us, and I proceeded to teach the children how to scream at the top of your lungs, run, and hit the deck. Well, I was scared-- they thought it was fun.

no my orginal reason was if anyone else had tons of hornets flying around there house thats all

not long into the summer i have to go to at least half a dozen different areas of my yard with the 'wasp and hornet' spray and hopefully kill the brood and remove the nest. it's best to hit them at night when they're all 'supposedly' back to the nest but sometimes you don't feel like waiting. if you hit it during the day you can normally get one or two and remove the nest then the others eventually go away.

had a couple 'carpenter' bees in my fence post. there like huge honey bees but i've heard they have no stinger. they sure do make a loud buzz though...

They usually get in when you have a window air conditioner and they fly up between where the 2 windows overlap each other. I usually stuff some foam insulation between the windows so they cant fit through. It seems to limit their intrusions and also makes for a tighter room so you arent wasting energy with cold ac blowing out through that gap. Bees in particular are attracted to pollen, and the outside glass of the window gets a dusting of it being exposed as it is. They are also drawn to the light that reflects off the glass. Thers not much you can do about it, so try and make it so they cant get in so easy.
