She actually called early on the show Friday. How did he ever swing that? Anywho, good job Wonderboy.

I haven't heard the earlier Ron and Fez shows in DC so forgive me but has Ron and Fez ever gotten that level of celebrity to call in?
[Of course, we have had Stephen Baldwin, Michael Madsen, Andre and the occasional Flair in the past.]

I can't think of any, which befuddles me because DC actually gets celebs all the time, through the Smithsonian, or the American Film Institute, filming here, or elsewhere, including those that film here. Also, you listen to any number of other local morning shows, and celebs are calling all the friggin time.
I know she was in New York, and called in. She and Quenton were both on Stern that morning, so maybe they used some internal contacts to get to her (I believe El Jefe talks with Baba Booey from time to time).
It's much better that they pick and choose, as best they can - they don't want to junk up the show with a bunch of people THEY don't care about. Once WB gets some more experience, he'll get the contacts, and it will be easier.
The better interview Friday night was with "Donnie Brasco." That could have gone on all night! Ron is really good with interviewing when he's excited about the subject.

Very true KOP. Our local wacky Zoo morning shows get all the top quality celebrities but for some reason Ron and Fez don't get that many which is really sad for our buddays.
Yeah WB, keep on... keeping on. Wow, I sound like Harry Elvis when he tried to wish WB a happy birthday. Yikes, please shoot me!
....
Yeah not to overlook "Donnie Brasco" at all but in name alone, Daryl Hannah is more of a recognizable/mainstream name. I did enjoy it and was really disappointed that we couldn't get any clues to his location. He sounded like he was in a bathroom or a bomb shelter.

I can only think of Al Franken and Bruce Campbell since they've been on in DC...anyone else?

Why Ron and Fez don't get celebs...
The timeslot works against them. When you're scheduling celebrities for radio interviews, there are only certain "windows" they can be scheduled for.
These windows usually do not fall into the time range Ron and Fez are on.
Sometimes stars will call in, but do pre-taped interviews. That's what you might hear on your morning zoo.
I'm guessing that R&F may not do pre-taped interviews.

The time slot would actually perfect for left coast celebs to call in...good pull on Campbell and Franken (how soon I forget!), by the way.
I'm trying to remember if The Junkies ever got many guests call in. I know they had regular sports related people they would call or would call in. They also "got" Chris Mathews.
I suggested it at the end of the year, but it would be cool if they had a regular Chris Mathews or Tim Russert they could talk with once in a week, as well as a sports person (other than Larry Michael). I would also keep a sharp eye on which bands and artists are coming through town, and work on getting call in. If not for the 7pm show, then the 11am show (HEY! THe only benefit of two shows!)
But only people they would want to talk with.
They can go from sports to politics (how great would a Bob Woodward interview be with them right now?!) entertainment and lit, like Donnie Brosco.
Anyway, it will come with time as WB gets more comfortable talking people up, etc.

kidding right?
daryl hannah? that a-list star?
peeps; it was a 10 minute phoner; on opening day. the daryl hannahs of the world often spend those days doing an endless series of these for anyone who wants; to promote the flick.
Yes, phone lines do indeed reach from hollywood and other points to the station.
ron's said on air that most celebs interviews dont work on the show; they'd turn down people All the time, in NY. Talk about them on-air; 'X wants to come in and talk.' Ron: 'Ehhh...'

Exactly Kenneth: on One Level. Peter Max would be fascinating. But for R+F?
And I've dome maybe a couple of hundred radio interviews, phoners and live in studio, and from my experience.
Most famous people suck at interviews on radio.
It's either pulling teeth, like Les Claypool or Al Jourgensen, who both gave me one word answers to my first five Questions, or the person Obviously is doing this because it's part of the Gig they are promoting, and would probably prefer to be Anywhere else then holed up in a studio in front of a Mic.
Great Interviews I had:
Material Issue
Jesus Jones
Glenn Burtnick
Steve Van Zandt [most amazing EVER. This guy is radio GOLD.]
[wow, big A-listers, eh? Ha! Radio Sub-Basement]
I was at the studio when Fishbone was there; and I helped break up a shouting match that was about to get physical, and that was just between some band members.

Most famous people suck at interviews on radio.
Remnds me; didnt WB and someone interview Tara Reid?
There ya go. Her star had risen quite nicely at that point, and as bad as WBs questions were; Tara Reid was just utterly cluless. You would think a person involved in the Art of acting might want to come across as at least Cogent, if not Intelligent.
Tara was obviously hungover, Godawful Marlboro voice, and every other word was a "Like" or "Ya Know". Hey, she a young actress who may well be at that level 90% on looks and 10% on her line delivery. And it's a Movie Opening, no blame for partying. But sheeesh... I forget what movie it was for; but it was a real Shark Sandwich.
And as for Daryl Hannah; I think she's about Ten time better the actress then I thought she was when Splash came out. And who can deny how she fills that outfit shes wearing in KB2. Not that one, the Black one. That one too though. WOW!
Christ another edit coz I cant shut up. In radio, when you're like I was and doing shows in the teeeeeeniest of markets, or a college station; one contest we would run, when we ran out of ideas was to get callers to call in, and here was the deal, the Challange to the Caller:
"Who Is the Most Famous Person You Know, And Know Well Enough that we will be Talking to them because of you within the Hour."
And people would call in who knew Harrison Ford's Maid, or whatever, and we said, great. Go Make the connections to speak to the Celeb; to have them call us back.
We'd wait until we screened their callback, and if it was the Celeb, we'd grill them for a minute off air with whatever we could think of that Only the Celeb would know. And if it was legit? We ran with it.
So; Who could YOU Get? Only Definite for me now would be Jason Mewes. Not a brag, I just live near the guy and our pools of friends intersect enough that he could pick me out of a crowd and be, 'Oh yeah, umm. Mike, you taught up at Sandy Hook?'
Kevin? He always says he remembers me, but I doubt it. [EDIT 2: Can I selflessly drop a few more names? Wow I read my own posts and want to slam the writer. Wordy Toad Teacher.]
