...or atleast that's what this guy i lived with in college called his crew. they were some hardcore motherfuckers.

anywho, i'm in the market to pick up a mountain bike. i have some nice trails near my house, nothing too crazy, and want to get my ass in shape.

here's the stipulations: i want to find a bike for around 3 bills, 21" frame, and get 2 seasons out of the bike.

so far, the trek hardtail recreation series, either a 4300 or a 4100. just remeber, i'm looking for an internediate bike to get back into it.

when i get to a level of riding where i can spaz out, i'll sell the bike and upgrade, with all the bells & whistles. thank you in advance for sharing.

- specialized hardrock sport $330

- trek 4300 hardtail recreation series $319

anybody have input? i'm looking to make a purchase this weekend.

i was originally looking a trek, but have been kind of sold on specialized. plus their frames seem more solid and possibly better to upgrade piece meal.

I have a Trek mountain bike. It's pretty good as long as you keep everything maintained. I havent ridden it in a while because I'm too lazy to fix the flat it has.
