My 'puter is riddled with virus(es)

I fully admit I am a 'puter tard. I DO have Norton Anti-Virus software. I update and scan regularly but lately I've been getting e-mail bounced back to me saying I tried to send "X" e-mail with attachments. And I get a Norton warning that 123_456.exe is trying to access 'net. I block it, but it's getting to be a pain in the ass, and I don't want my computer to get fucked up.

I ran the "fix" for MY DOOM a couple of months ago. Anyone know what I should try to run now?

Run AVG Anti-Virus (http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php). I've had too many problems with Norton, AVG is better and free.

I get some of those email, and it to places I never been too or don't know. I usually just scan the computer with Norton's anti-virus and just report the email as a spam

Run AVG Anti-Virus. I've had too many problems with Norton, AVG is better and free.


Better yet, do as I do and use both. I keep both running on my system with no problems or viruses whatsoever.

download and run . Ad-Aware (http://download.com.com/3000-8022-10214379.html?tag=pop)

this sounds like it could be spyware or malware who is trying to send some of your tracking information. after you install it, run the update to get the latest patch. then do a scan
you will be suprised how much it finds

Go with AVG. I got it because of this thread and it works great. Norton Anti-Virus fucks with so many programs and systems it's just not worth it.

I went with JPMNICK's idea and ran Ad-Aware. It's helped quite a bit. I no longer get that Norton screen telling me that 123_456.exe is trying to access the Internet. It found 85 items that needed to be deleted!

glad i could help. run that program about once a month to get rid of all the crap that acumulates. especially from porn sites. not that i ever visit any, i heard from friends. before you use it, just run the update to get the latest definitions.
Once I saw that a program was trying to gain outgoing acess, i knew that it was prolly spyware.
