View Full Version : Bush Gets Squeezed by Heinz

It appears the folks at Heinz are dumping money into the Bush re-election campaign. Heinz is the same company that John Kerry's wife Teresa Heinz Kerry is the heiress to.

A look at the company's campaign donations shows a preference for Republicans. In the past six years, the Heinz company's political action committee gave more than $64,000 to GOP candidates, nearly three times the amount given to Democrats. It contributed $5,000 to Bush's campaign. It has shunned the Kerry campaign, but the PAC gave $5,000 to the Massachusetts Democratic Party.

Funny how the "leftist media" blames Kerry for Hienz' outsourcing, when niether he nor his wife have anything to do with the company or the decisions made by thier board of directors.

Well; if his Poll numbers continue to fall; I guess the only solution will be to play Catch Up.

And remember, that just because you work for Heinz, doesn't mean that your vote counts 57 times. Unless you live in Florida.

Just imagine, if the pilot became a series, you'd have a joke like that in every episode :)

New national polls, including one by IBD/TIPP, show President Bush moving back ahead of challenger John Kerry in the volatile presidential sweepstakes, with IBD results also suggesting that some key Kerry backers are rethinking their positions.
A number of polls (http://www.investors.com/editorial/general.asp?v=4/21) are showing Bush reclaiming his lead over Kerry.
Kerry might need some more botox.
Despite weeks of bad news out of Iraq and questions about whether he should have done more to avert the Sept. 11 terror attacks, two new polls this week show President Bush has regained a lead over Democratic rival John Kerry

Hm, good thing the election isn't today.
Do polls EVER matter?

I don't think they matter at all as much as they used to. They change so frequently.

The polls are meaningless right now - Zogbie had one that came out the same day as the ABC/Washington Post poll that had identical numbers, but flipped - with Kerry enjoying a comfortable lead. Not sure why the LEFTIST media chose to cover the Post poll as much as they have.
I have seen two others that negated each other as well.
The polls that matter, if any do right now, in about 16 swing states and in many of the ones that went Democratic in 2000, there is a stronger support for Kerry than for Gore, while those that went to Bush, show the support softer.
Everyone loves to bat around speculation on how close this might be, using 2000 as the barometer, when in fact a more accurate account should be previous sitting presidents.
Despite how much the Republicans try, this is not an election about John Kerry - it seldom is with the challenger to an incumbent President. This election is all about George Bush, who this time has a record to actually run on, and be judged on. And going back four elections where the President was running for reelection, it turned out to be a referendum on how well, or how poorly, the President had done in the first 4 years.
Jimmy Carter in 1980 and George H.W. Bush in 1992 - out of there after four years; Ronald Reagan in 1984 and Bill Clinton in 1996 - people rewarded them. All four elections were fairly decisive, too - in some cases "landslides."
Now, the wrinkle this time is that the country is more polarized than it has ever, ever been; 80% of the country is split firmly right down the middle, and neither side will budge. The other 20% are all that matter, and 100s of millions of dollars will be spent to get their vote.
The democrats need to be smarter than the republicans - they need to find a way to make Nader a non-factor - they need to work on getting more and more registered Democrats out in November (I believe that there are still more registered Democrats in the country than Republicans).
A lot of time between now and November.

Not surprising considering the late Senator John Heinz was a Republican.
